Vanilla Morrowind’s reputation system gives you a number and expects you to care, Dignitas gives that number social weight. As your fame rises, your reputation line begins to describe what kind of figure you've actually become, whether that's a fetcher, tolerated outlander, honoured guest, Sera, and eventually something closer to legend...
The result is small, lightweight, and diegetic: your reputation stops feeling like an abstract number and starts reading like something Morrowind might actually call you.
