📋 About This Mod
Overview
Morrowind's mines have ore you can harvest just like any plant. No more! Simply Mining brings actual mining gameplay to Morrowind. Ore veins now spawn dynamically on rocky surfaces throughout the world. Mining requires proper tools, skill, and time. (interop with TimeFlies)
Approach an ore vein and attack the node until it breaks. Higher skill means faster mining and better yields. Every setting is adjustable in the mod settings menu.
Features
[]Dynamic ore spawns appear on rocky surfaces in both interiors and exteriors by finding valid rock faces and places veins contextually rather than relying on hand-placed markers or an esp. Indoors the amount of nodes scales with the area size.[/]
[]10 ore types across a full difficulty curve: Iron, Coal, Silver, Gold, Copper, Orichalcum, Diamonds, Adamantium, Raw Ebony, and Raw Glass. Each ore has its own difficulty rating and spawn weight, so iron is common and glass is rare.[/]
[]Ore spawns based on current skill so you're more likely to find nodes you're able to mine. Configurable in the settings, set to 0 for completely random distribution or increase for more skill-based progression.[/]
[]Skill-based yield is based on your Armorer skill or a Mining skill if Skill Framework is installed which determines how much ore you extract per node. Low skill on a high-tier vein means slower mining and a chance to fail entirely. Configurable in the settings.[/]
[]Two ways to mine includes the legacy method of interacting with ore and watching the progress bar increase, in addition to a new method which lets you attack them similarly to woodcutting in Sun's Dusk. Switch between them at any time in the settings.[/]
[]Equipped weapon determines the speed a node is mined at. Better weapons mine faster. If you're rocking a hand-to-hand build, you can still chip away but slowly with a different sound effect but expect some health damage at low hand-to-hand skills.
In order the weapon tiers are:
Ebony Pickaxe > Nordic Pickaxe (from Bloodmoon) > Miner's Pick > Weapons (tiered) > Bare fists (hand-to-hand). [/]
[]Ore integration for existing ore nodes present in vanilla, Tamriel Rebuilt, and Project Tamriel. Activating/Attacking them triggers the mining system instead and you can not open these organic container directly. You get a single ore on success at a flat 70% chance to keep these nodes simple.[/]
[*]Merchant restocking for Smiths, Traders, and Pawnbrokers to restock ore for sale between visits

✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Simple and straightforward—grab a pick and start mining
- Recent update (March 2026) shows active maintenance
- Decent community support with 154 endorsements
⚠️ Cons
- Requires OpenMW, so not for vanilla Morrowind players
For Morrowind players using OpenMW who want a lightweight mining addition without overhauling the game. Skip if you're on the original engine or expect complex crafting systems.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Make sure you're running OpenMW, not the original Morrowind executable—this mod won't work otherwise.
- Carry a pickaxe in your inventory; you'll need it to interact with the ore deposits.
- Look for ores in caves and scattered around the world—they're not just in mines.
