📋 About This Mod
A gameplay mod for OpenMW 0.49+ that makes healing a meaningful decision rather than a free resource.
No More Excessive Healing (OpenMW 0. 49+)
Every time you rely on restoration magic, your body pays a price, and the more you lean on it, the worse it gets.
Description
The mod tracks how many times you heal during combat or exploration. Once you heal enough times to cross the configured threshold, your base maximum HP is permanently reduced. Keep pushing it, and your attributes will begin to deteriorate as well.
This creates a natural incentive to avoid unnecessary healing and genuinely fear attrition in prolonged fights.
How it works
Each time you heal a set number of times, your base maximum HP is reduced by a configurable amount. This heal counter persists across saves. Your base HP will never drop below a configured floor, so the mod cannot kill you outright through penalties alone. After enough HP penalty triggers, one of your attributes takes a hit. The damaged attribute is chosen randomly from: Strength, Agility, Speed, Endurance, and Personality. Each has its own penalty magnitude, with Personality having a separate (typically higher) value to reflect social and physical scarring.
Optionally, when an attribute is damaged, your base HP is restored by the full amount lost over that penalty cycle. This gives you a meaningful trade-off: your body adapts to the accumulated strain.
The entire mod can be enabled or disabled at any time from the settings menu without restarting.
Wisdom System
Suffering has its lessons. When an attribute is damaged, there is a configurable chance that your Willpower or Intelligence increases slightly in return. The idea is simple: those who endure hardship grow sharper and more resilient in other ways.
The chance, the affected attribute (chosen randomly between the two), and the amount gained are all configurable. By default this system is disabled.
Recovery System
If enabled, your HP and attritubes are restored after configurable number of days. You can decide whether it will be a full or partial restoration.
Food does not have trigger the penalty as long as its name is added in FOOD section in nshared.lua
A Note on Constant Effect
Items enchanted with Constant Effect Restore Health will not trigger the penalty script on every tick by default. Constant Effect gear is rare, expensive, and represents a legitimate late-game reward. Finding such an item is an achi
