📋 About This Mod
Overhauls the vanilla character classes with a focus on eliminating skill redundancies without minmaxing, while making the classes distinct enough
to have their own identities. Armor and weapon types are split as evenly as possible while still making sense. A couple of classes have multiple melee weapon skills where it would suit the character, but never more than two. I wanted the vanilla classes to be something you would actually want to play, instead of resorting to a custom class.
This mod no longer changes the actual vanilla classes, but rather creates playable duplicates so as not to affect NPC stats. However, this mod doesn't affect Socucius Ergalla's class quiz, so he'll unfortunately still assign you the original version of a vanilla class unless you select it manually.
Inspiration for this mod was taken from Better Character Classes by Aracelliy, with some crucial differences.
Recommended Mods
- Dynamic Class Images - Gives the new duplicate vanilla classes unique images in the character creation and levelup screens. Unfortunately they'll all have the same generic image without it.
- Enchanting Balance Redone and Enchantment Services Redone - Makes the enchanting skill not completely useless, giving you a reason to actually have enchanting as one of your class skills.
- Wands - Adds wands, but also makes staffs shoot their cast-on-strike enchantments at range. Now you can use wizard staffs without having to specialise in blunt weapons! Perfect for Battlemages, Mages and Sorcerers.
- MULE - Mort's Ultimate Levelling Experience - These classes are not minmaxed, and most leave out an attribute or two. This mod takes the anxiety out of levelling and gives you a way to increase those attributes naturally.
- Reincarnate - Races of Morrowind - Races are more interesting and varied without being overpowered.
- Expanded Birthsigns for Purists - Birthsigns are more interesting and balanced.
- Height and Weight - Shameless self-plug aside, this mod changes the Height and Weight values of almost every race to create a different look and feel.
Compatibility
- Not compatible with mods that alter the vanilla character classes, obvs. If you are using a mod that adds new character classes but also modifies the vanilla classes, load it before this one.

✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Decent download count (8,175) shows some interest
- Focus on class identity is a solid design goal
- Recently updated (July 2025) so likely compatible with current game version
⚠️ Cons
- Only 64 endorsements — a small following, so expect rough edges
For players who feel vanilla classes are too samey and want more distinct builds. If you're a roleplayer who picks a class for flavor, this could add depth. Skip if you're happy with the default class system or prefer gameplay overhauls that add new mechanics.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Check the mod's forum posts or comments for any load order advice, since the description doesn't cover it.
- If you're using a mod manager, install this like any other mod and let it overwrite the vanilla class data.
- Start a new character to see the changes — existing saves may not reflect the overhaul properly.
