📋 About This Mod
In-game quest guide built from UESP data. Click an active quest and get the steps, your progress on multi-part quests, one-click teleports and known bugs. MWSE version adds optional AI chat with your own Anthropic API key. Separate OpenMW
Description
Morrowind Quest Guide adds a quest window inside the game. Click any active quest and it shows the walkthrough steps, which parts you have already done, teleport buttons for the places involved, and known bugs, all from bundled UESP data.
If you want more, start the included relay with your own Anthropic API key and the same window becomes a chat that knows your location, your journal and the walkthrough, for questions like "why won't he talk to me" or "what's the proper way without console".
Installation instructions (MWSE)
-
[]Install MWSE (comes with MGE XE, run MWSE-Update.exe).[/]
[]Extract the archive into your Morrowind folder.[/]
[](Optional) Open Data Files\MWSE\mods\MorrowindQuestGuide\relay and double-click "Start AI Guide.bat". The first run asks for your Anthropic API key (get one at platform.claude.com). Leave that window open while you play.[/]
[]In game, press Alt+C.[/]
-
[]Extract the archive anywhere, for example inside your OpenMW folder. You get one folder, MorrowindQuestGuide-OpenMW.[/]
[]OpenMW Launcher, Data Files tab: under Data Directories add that folder.[/]
[]Content Files: tick MorrowindQuestGuide.omwscripts.[/]
[]In game, press B. Rebind it under Options, Scripts, Morrowind Quest Guide.[/]
[]OpenMW 0. 51 or newer. The AI chat is not available on OpenMW.[/]
-
[]A window with your active quests on the left. Click one for its guide card. With the relay running, each quest also keeps its own chat.[/]
[]Multi-part quests show which parts are done, from your own journal.[/]
[]Teleport, Go and Find buttons take you straight to the place or person. Teleports drop you outside the door rather than inside someone's house, and they aim at the exact room a person stands in, not just their town.[/]
[]Mod settings menu to change the hotkey. On MWSE also config the AI model and how much chat history is resent.[/]
[]Every quest in Morrowind, Tribunal and Bloodmoon is bundled from UESP data, so the guide shows the actual walkthrough for your selected quest, and on MWSE the AI reads it too instead of guessing.[/]
[]Curated extras where UESP falls short - exact teleport spots, find-this-NPC buttons, console helpers and warnings for quests known to break.[/]
-
[]MWSE or OpenMW[/]
[]An Anthropic API key (optional). Usage is billed by Anthropic to your account. A typical question is a fraction of a cent on Haiku and a few cents on Sonnet.[/]
Better Dialogue Font - pairs very well with this mod and is highly recommended anyway.
Your key is stored locally in relay\apikey.txt and is only ever sent to api.anthropic.com. The mod itself only talks to the relay on your own machine (127. 0. 0. 1).
Known Limits
The AI can be wrong, especially on Haiku with directions and distances. With the bundled UESP data it no longer invents quests or places, but Sonnet remains more accurate.
This mod uses your own Anthropic API key. All API usage is billed by Anthropic directly to your account, and you are responsible for that cost. Check your usage at platform.claude.com/settings/billing and set a spending limit there before using this mod. The mod is provided as is, with no warranty; the author is not liable for API charges, lost keys, incorrect quest advice, o
