📋 About This Mod

In 4E 114, a historian using the pen name 'Crown' undertook a project to study and publish their own record of events surrounding the Nerevarine in Morrowind during 3E 427. The study involved analyzing surviving documents written before the eruption at Red Mountain, interviewing individuals who lived through the events, speaking with living descendants, evaluating questionable 'for-their-eyes-only' accounts kept behind what Crown calls 'hidden doors,' gathering general oral history passed down from that time, and cross-referencing much of it with other well-established reviews. While Crown provides some level of evidence for most of their investigation, their writings are severely undermined by the choice to use an alias. With no established background, it is impossible to determine whether they had the expertise to appropriately filter hearsay or bias, not to mention their inability to provide evidence of hidden sources. Although flawed, The Crown Historiography may offer insights into details overlooked or omitted by other historians studying this period. It also serves as a reflection of what people in the year of its publication believed had occurred just over a century prior. - Unknown historian, unknown date, unknown publication.

Introduction

This project is a complete story and dialogue overhaul for The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind, encompassing eight years of updates and expansions (2017 - 2025). This project includes a comprehensive overhaul of the story and dialogue, featuring refinements to existing factions and dialogue, as well as new epic quest arcs crafted with lore-friendliness in mind. Additionally, the main quest has been fully revised to include three new 'extended edition' style acts that unfold during and after the vanilla questline.

In total, Morrowind Extended Cut brings you 100 new quests to explore, countless hours of new content to experience, and many improvements to the existing parts of the game. Most importantly, it's all lore-friendly.

There's new lore to bridge gaps, but it may all be explained away as 'Crown's' own faulty history if you don't like it, hence the excerpt at the top and the alternative title you may know as The Crown Historiography. Basically, the idea is that a sketchy Fourth Era historian has included more details than others in his account of 3E 427, so his work is taken with a grain of salt, keeping everything respectful of lore in every instance. In other words, it's a fun way of breaking the fourth wall around this mod and saying that if you don't like any of the new stuff, the author was simply a bad scholar.

Crown Document Analysis

This module introduces enhancements to the Great House Hlaalu, the Morag Tong, the Tribunal Temple, the Imperial Cult, slaves, Boethiah's Quest, and 'no lore' NPCs.
