📋 About This Mod

This mod does several notable things, aside from the usual bugfixing, lighting and pathgrid improvements I make in my refit series.

1. Quarters for miners! Yes, finally, all the FUNCTIONING mines have miner quarters. Did you ever notice that the vanilla mines were lacking that? Personally, I haven't. I don't think a lot of people care enough. I mainly added them because PTR does so, and I want this mod to be up to the project's standard.

2. Utilizing TD kwama assets in egg mines.

TD introduces several new cool looking kwama assets that help diversify the egg mines which previously only had kwama eggs to somehow distinct themselves from other mines/caves, and this mod spreads them across all the egg mines. The care I put into the placement of these assets is magnitudes better than my old egg mine mod, which I'll still leave up for anyone who wants to download it, but under no circumstances do I recommend doing so.

3. Adding new egg miners.

In several vanilla egg mines you could see NPCs named "Egg Miner", which is quite weird for MW which usually properly names all NPCs except guards. I added new records with properly named Egg Miners and changed their loot tables to give them egg miner hooks (new TD asset), new faces/hair and partially dressed them in TD clothing. This is probably the most compatibility problematic change this mod does, since some mods may use the vanilla records for quests. Please report such compatibility issues and I'll see what I can do.

For other stuff this mod does, consult Cavern Refit's page description which gives a more in-depth explanation on what else you can expect from this modification.

Compatibility: incompatible with any mod that overhauls mines. I edited WGHT records in certain cells which will create incompatibilities with mods such as TLAD or di.still.ed Lights, so please place them above my mod in your load order.

Due to the amount of work poured into this mod, expect bugs and glitches. Don't forget to report them too.

The screenshots on the mod page may not correspond to individual user experience. I use OpenMW with core shader replacements and

post-processing shaders.

Mod cleaned with TESAME and TES3CMD. Credits to Assumeru (and other code contributors) for the StandardsValidator tool which helped me spot any unconnected/underwater pathgrid nodes.

🤖 AI-enhanced — based on mod data

Mine Refit overhauls all mines on Vvardenfell using Tamriel_Data, enhancing the visual and environmental detail of these locations. With 33 endorsements and nearly 11,000 downloads, it's a niche but popular overhaul for Morrowind players seeking improved mine aesthetics.

✨ Key Features

Overhauls all mines on Vvardenfell
Utilizes Tamriel_Data for enhanced visuals
Focuses on Dungeons and Locations category

📊 Pros & Cons

✅ Pros

  • Solid download-to-endorsement ratio (10,966 downloads, 33 endorsements) shows real interest despite niche appeal
  • Covers all mines on Vvardenfell — a comprehensive overhaul, not just a single dungeon
  • Leverages Tamriel_Data, which means it integrates with a well-known asset repository

⚠️ Cons

  • Low endorsement count (33) suggests it's still a niche mod with limited community validation
  • Requires Tamriel_Data as a dependency, which adds an extra install step and potential compatibility considerations
🎯 Is This For You?
For Morrowind players who want a consistent visual upgrade across all mines without overhauling the entire game. If you're a completionist exploring every cave and mine, this adds a fresh coat of paint. Skip if you're looking for gameplay changes — this is purely cosmetic.
📦 Install:Medium· 5-10 minutes

💡 Beginner Tips

  • Make sure Tamriel_Data is installed and activated before enabling Mine Refit in your mod manager.
  • Check load order: place Mine Refit after Tamriel_Data to ensure its overrides take effect.
  • If you use OpenMW, verify compatibility with your version, as some Morrowind mods require specific setups.
