II. Description:

“But wait, isn’t there already a mod like that out there?”

Not exactly. The existing mods usually keep the columns and add swords on top of them, with the blades pointing straight up, towering far above the height of the Ghostfence. This makes them look a bit tacky, ridiculous, and pretentious: just my personal opinion, so please don’t be offended if you like them. Here, have a free hug!

In the original concept art, however, the swords actually support the forcefield, making them a functional part of the structure rather than just decorative.

It’s not hard to see why this wasn’t implemented in the base game. From a technical standpoint, creating a Ghostgate faithful to the concept art is a real nightmare. The forcefield needs both an animation and alpha transparency to create a smooth transition at the edge. You also need far more mesh pieces, since any curved section at the top can’t simply be rotated without breaking the shape. Finally, the angled pieces must be carefully cut to avoid either leaving gaps or having bits of the forcefield poke awkwardly over the blades.

I’m not going to lie: this mod was a grind to make, and it wasn’t exactly fun in the process. But now that it’s done, we finally have a truly concept-art-faithful implementation of the Ghostgate.

We hope you enjoy it.

III. Installation:

The mod folders are organized as follows:

    IV. Compatibility:

Because of the limitations mentioned above, we had to make quite a few landscape edits, so there might be incompatibilities. Most can likely be fixed with the “Merged Lands” tool, but we are also available to make patches if needed.
