A copy of your save is made every time the game starts, before this mod does anything, into nativePC/plugins/mhw-seamless-coop-backups. The ten most recent are kept.

With Follow the leader's story on (the default), your game records the story steps your quest leader has taken while your story is at the same point as theirs, through the game's own routines, and the game saves them as it saves your own progress. It only ever moves your story forward. Turn it off to keep your story entirely your own.

With Save on returning to town on (the default), your game saves when you come back to town from a quest or an Expedition.

What changes

• []Join automatically. Follow posted quests, Investigations, and Expeditions, the Great Ravine included, without finding the listing yourself.[/]

  []Start story quests together. Join before the leader reaches the cutscene that normally unlocks multiplayer.[/]

  []Share the story. Watch the leader's story cutscenes with your party, on quests and on Expeditions, and keep your own story in step with theirs. Press X to vote to skip a cutscene: once everyone watching has voted, it is skipped for everyone.[/]

  []Quests play out the same for everyone. Escort NPCs stay and move with the leader's, the escorted cart travels with theirs, and the voiced pop-ups, camera moves and area banners play for the whole party. Story monsters appear and leave when the leader's story says so.[/]

  []Ride together. The story quest where the Mernos fly you out to Zorah Magdaros is flown as a party, in formation behind the leader, and everyone lands together.[/]

  []Research together. In High Rank everyone sees the same "???" tracks, and each monster's research bar goes to the best anyone in the party has, so its assignment unlocks for everyone at once.[/]

  []Catch up to a hunt in progress. Join your friend's online session and let the mod handle quest joining and departure, including the host's story on an Expedition already under way.[/]

  []Land at the same camp. Match the leader's chosen campsite.[/]

  []See your party in town. Explore Astera and the Research Base together, with shared town presence enabled for everyone.[/]

  []Keep what you earned. Your game saves when you come back to town from a quest or an Expedition, so a hunt's rewards and the story you played together are never lost to a closed game.[/]

  []Choose who you follow. Follow the session host by default, or enable "Follow anyone's quest" to follow whoever posts first. With "Only follow friends" on (the default), only people on your Steam friends list are followed automatically.[/]

  A small panel keeps everyone informed. See who has the mod, their current state, and recent party activity. Settings and diagnostics are available in-game.

  Get your party ready

  • []Open the game folder. In Steam, right-click Monster Hunter: World → Manage → Browse local files. This is the folder containing MonsterHunterWorld.exe.[/]

    []Extract the complete mod archive here. Keep its folder structure. When updating, replace this mod's existing files with the new release. If you already have another mod's xinput9_1_0.dll, read Compatibility below before replacing it.[/]

    []Launch through Steam. The in-game panel appears automatically. Have everyone install the same release, then join the same online session.[/]

    Works on its own. No additional dependencies required. You do not need Stracker's Loader, another mod, or a separate launcher. Already use Stracker's Loader? This mod is compatible with it and uses the same nativePC/plugins folder structure, so it fits into your existing setup. The release is also packaged for installation with Vortex.
