📋 About This Mod
A subtle, always-on fill light pinned to your hunter’s head so their face doesn’t turn into a murky silhouette in caves and night hunts. Brightness auto-adjusts per area via VfxScale. REFramework Lua script — no .pak edits, fully
Keeps your hunter's face from looking bad in the dark. The character you carefully sculpted in character creation turns into a murky, flat-shaded silhouette in caves, night hunts, and dim cutscenes — this mod fixes that with a subtle, always-on fill light pinned to your hunter's head, like a photographer's portrait light. Just enough light to keep the face looking the way it should, without making the rest of the scene look unnatural.
Implemented as a REFramework Lua script, so there is no .pak to patch and the light can be toggled or tuned from the in-game menu at any time.
Features
-
[]Single, subtle point light pinned to the hunter's head joint every frame — a portrait-style fill light for the face, not a torch. It brightens your character, not the environment.[/]
[]Brightness is automatically scaled by the engine's current VfxScale, so the light keeps a similar look across bright (open Plains) and dark (Wyveria, night, indoors) areas. No more "blinding in caves, invisible at noon".[/]
[]Live in-game UI under Script Generated UI > FaceLight to tweak intensity, range, color, head offset, and every advanced light field the engine exposes (source radius, temperature, bounce intensity, specular, ...).[/]
[]Settings persist to reframework/data/FaceLight.json.[/]
[]Disabled cleanly when the mod is toggled off or the script is reloaded — the spawned light GameObject is destroyed, no residual lights left in the scene.[/]
Requirements
-
[]Monster Hunter Wilds (Steam) on the PC version. Tested on the current retail build; see Compatibility below.[/]
[]REFramework (the Wilds build). This mod is just a Lua script that REFramework loads.[/]
Installation
