📋 About This Mod

Do you wish you could create debug saves and then see the the debug name on the load screen like you can in LE2 and LE3? Well now you can. I have hacked this ability into LE1. Useful for keeping track of saves for testing or replaying parts

With this mod, debug saves are now a thing in LE1, very similar to in LE2 and LE3. You can create them using a new console command, and the name you set for them will show up in the save/load screen as part of the list of saves.

To create a debug save, open the console with tab or tilde (configurable in mod manager, and automatically enabled when you install a mod), the enter "debugsave" followed by the name you want to use for the save. Spaces are allowed. Underscores will get replaced with spaces. Other special characters that are allowed in file names are allowed. Try to keep it short so it will stay within the space in the save/load interface.

If you want to add a debug name to existing saves, simply change the filename. Anything between the character id (eg, Jane00) and the save number (and their adjacent underscores) will show up as the debug name. So if I wanted to add a debug name to the save Alden00_139.pcsav, I would simply rename it to Alden00_debug name_139.pcsav and it would show up in the save/load menu with "debug name" below the normal details. As above, spaces are allowed, and most special characters should be fine as well. You should avoid adding more underscores so that mod manager can properly display the name.

Alternatively, if you have set the Display Name in TSE on saves, this will show up in the same place. The filename will take priority over the display name if both are set.

This mod is safe to add mid playthrough. Saves made before this was installed or made the normal way will still work normally with this installed, as will saves made with this mod through the in game UI. Saves made with this command will still work once the mod is uninstalled, they will just not display the debug name in the list.

This mod MUST be installed using ME3Tweaks Mod Manager, as it makes changes to basegame files and makes use of the config merging feature. You can only uninstall by restoring SFXGame.pcc and Startup.pcc from backup.

As with all mods installed by the mod manager, you should not install this after installing texture mods. It is unlikely to break your game, but it will break your ability to install further texture mods until you restore the entire game. You have been warned.

This will conflict with anything that modifies the save/load screens, but it should be fairly simple and safe to patch, and I give full permission for other mods to do so.

I have not added or changed any text, so this should work in all languages, but not that non-Latin characters may not show up correctly in debug save names. This is a limitation of the game itself that I cannot change.

This mod has been integrated into the LE! Community Patch (version 1. 7). If you have installed that, there is no need to install this separately.

Note that as of this writing, the debug save name will not show up in Mod Manager's dialog
