Wasteland Storms

Description

The sandstorms and thunderstorms are some of the best moments in Mad Max, and most players barely see them: the game schedules a storm only once every 2 to 2. 5 hours of play.

Wasteland Storms adds storms on top of the game's own cycle, as often as you like. It uses the game's own storm command, so every storm is a real one - the same sandstorms and thunderstorms, the same debris, the same loot in the eye of the storm. The vanilla cycle keeps running underneath, untouched.

The mod reads the game's weather directly, so it knows when a storm reaches you, when the sky clears, and when you are somewhere storms can't happen.

Main features

Four presets, cycled with F5 (key configurable):

• []Off: vanilla storms only[/]

  []Frequent: 4-9 minutes of clear sky between storms[/]

  []Uncommon: 10-30 minutes of clear sky between storms[/]

  []Random: 0-60 minutes, storms can come back to back[/]

  • []Real storms from the game's own system; the game picks sandstorm or thunderstorm[/]

    []The gap starts when a storm actually ends, so storms never overlap[/]

    []Only game time counts: pausing, menus and alt-tab don't bring the next storm closer[/]

    []Holds while you're inside strongholds, interiors, camps, tunnels, Gastown or the sulfur pits, and resumes when you step outside[/]

    []Outrun a storm and it counts as missed; storms are never fired on top of each other[/]

    []Clean on-screen message in the game's own UI font, shown only in the open world[/]

    []Your choice is saved between sessions (WastelandStorms.ini)[/]

    []No game files changed, saves unaffected, uninstall by deleting one file[/]

    Installation

    • []Copy dinput8.dll (Ultimate ASI Loader, included) into the Mad Max folder, next to AVAMain.exe. Skip if you already have it (e.g. from Enhanced Convoys).[/]

      []Copy the "scripts" folder into the Mad Max folder.[/]

      []Start the game. Once you're in the outside, a message shows the current preset (Frequent by default). Press F5 to change it.[/]

      To uninstall, delete scripts\WastelandStorms.asi.
