📋 About This Mod
Play Graveyard Keeper co-op with a friend over Steam — no server, free. Two players share one world with deep sync: chopping, mining, graves, building, crafting, shared chests, weather and more. Each keeps their own character, skills and
Graveyard Keeper — Multiplayer (2-player co-op)
Adds 2-player co-op to Graveyard Keeper. Connection is over Steam P2P — no server to set up, no port forwarding, no IP addresses. One of you hosts, the other joins through a regular Steam invite.
Status: beta. The core loop is fully playable together: world, building, crafting, graves, inventory. NPC villagers and dungeon mobs are not synced yet (see Known limitations).
⚠ Back up your save first
Please copy your save folder before playing with this mod, and ideally use a separate save rather than your main run. This is a beta written and tested by one person and two friends — it has broken saves before, in ways that followed the player back into singleplayer, where removing the mod didn't help because the damage lives in the save file.
Saves are here: %USERPROFILE%\AppData\LocalLow\Lazy Bear Games\Graveyard Keeper — paste that into the Explorer address bar, copy the whole folder somewhere safe, and you can always roll back.
What is synced
-
[]Both players in the same world — the host's save is transferred automatically on join[/]
[]Movement, animations, day/night time (anyone sleeping advances time for both)[/]
[]Tree chopping, stone breaking, mining loot, foraging, garden beds[/]
[]Graves — digging, reburying bodies, repair; carried corpses with handoff between players[/]
[]Building — full cycle: place → construct → demolish[/]
[]Crafting at workstations — shared queues, live progress bar on your partner's side[/]
[]Inventory — shared chests (both can use them at once), stockpiles, item exchange[/]
[]Weather, shared story world-flags[/]
[]Personal progress — the 2nd player has their own character save (skills, HP, techs, perks, quest journal) layered over the host's world. Shared world, personal progress — the Stardew Valley model[/]
Installation (step by step)
Step 1 — Install BepInEx (the mod loader):
-
[]Download BepInEx 5. 4. 23. 5 (x64) — the file is BepInEx_x64_5. 4. 23. 5.zip from the BepInEx releases page[/]
[]Extract it directly into the game folder — the one with Graveyard Keeper.exe (usually C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Graveyard Keeper). After extracting you should see a BepInEx folder and winhttp.dll next to the game's exe[/]
[]Launch the game once and quit — this makes BepInEx generate its folders (including BepInEx\plugins)[/]
- []Drop Multiplayer.dll (from the Files tab) into Graveyard Keeper\BepInEx\plugins\[/]
How to play
Host:
-
[]Load your save[/]
[]Press F11 — a lobby is created and the Steam invite overlay opens[/]
[]Invite your friend[/]
-
[]Accept the Steam invite[/]
[]The mod downloads the host's save and joins you into the world[/]
F11 seems to do nothing?
The lobby is created — the invite window is drawn by the Steam Overlay, so if the overlay is disabled you won't see anything. Two ways out:
-
[]Enable the overlay: Steam → Settings → In Game → Enable the Steam overlay while in-game (also check the game's Properties)[/]
[]Or skip it: press F11 anyway, then your friend joins via the Steam friends list — right-click your name → Join Game. Works even with the overlay off on both sides[/]
Known limitations
-
[]2 players max (for now)[/]
[]NPC villagers and dungeon mobs/zombies are not synced yet — you'll each see your own[/]
[]Both players need the game on Steam (P2P runs through Steam networking)[/]
[]DLC: a player without the DLCs can join and play fine, until the host starts a paid DLC storyline — then the save won't load for them[/]
[]Rare: if both players grab the very last item of the same stack in a chest at the exact same moment, 1 item can duplicate[/]
