Meaningful Progression - World Loot (Randomizer)

This mod is still being actively developed and needs a lot of testing. Chest rewards are already covered, and loose world loot is planned for a future update.

Why?

The vanilla game scatters hundreds of chests with almost no link between how difficult a chest is to reach and what is inside. Ever felt the disappointment of clearing a cave and beating tough enemies, only to find a tiny bit of ore and some junk? I felt the original game didn't really encourage exploration, so you ended up exploring mostly just for experience points.

This mod aims to address and improve that specific aspect, while also introducing freshness and replayability. The core philosophy is simple: I want players to feel rewarded with a useful upgrade after clearing a dungeon or finding a hidden chest.

(Can also be used as a randomizer for fun, unpredictable playthroughs!)

What it does

Each chest is filled from a tier - WEAK / MEDIUM / HIGH / ELITE - using one of two modes:

• []Authored (default) - every one of the chests has a hand-picked tier. Your rolled loot is frozen per save profile, so a playthrough always finds the same gear. Delete a profile file to re-roll that loot pool.[/]

  []Randomizer - a chest's tier comes from its lock difficulty and the item is rolled fresh every launch. Pure chaos, nothing persisted.[/]

  How it fills a chest

  • []Chests that already hold a weapon get that item re-tiered in place.[/]

    []Junk-only chests (ore, food) are filled with a tier weapon but gated by a scarcity roll, so finds stay rare (WEAK chests pay out only ~15% of the time by default).[/]

    []Quest items and keys are never touched.[/]

    Requirements

    • []UE4SS Version: This mod requires the latest experimental build of UE4SS. Running older or "stable" versions is not recommended and may cause crashes or glitches.[/]

      []Recommended Tool: I suggest using the G1L Mod Manager to simplify the process. It automatically handles downloading, installing, and updating UE4SS to the correct version.[/]

      []Stay Updated: Always keep UE4SS updated. Experimental releases frequently roll out essential stability fixes, compatibility adjustments, and bug resolutions.[/]

    Installation

    • []Extract the archive into G1R\Binaries\Win64\Mods\ so you have Mods\MeaningfulProgression_WorldLoot\dlls\main.dll.[/]

      []Launch. Loot is applied when you start a new game, Continue, or Load a save.[/]

      Configuration

      A config.json is created on first launch. Edits apply on the next load, no restart.

        []ReplaceVanillaGear: re-tier a chest's existing weapon instead of its junk[/]

        Compatibility & safety

        • []Best on a new game. Chests you've already opened keep what they rolled.[/]

          []Non-destructive. Disable the mod and vanilla loot returns on the next launch.[/]
