📋 About This Mod
Battle Overlay Plugin - Real-time Battle Analyzer
A clean, customizable real-time combat overlay for Final Fantasy VII (2026 Steam Re-release) showing ally ATB/HP, enemy HP, steal eligibility, and scan status.
Version 1. 1 Update Notes
🔧 Bug Fixes
- []Resolved Persistent Overlay Issue: Fixed a bug where transforming enemies were incorrectly flagged as active at the end of a battle, causing the overlay to remain stuck on screen. The overlay will now cleanly dismiss upon combat completion.[/]
- []Configurable Ally Stats: Added a new configuration option within "battle_overlay.ini". Players can now toggle the visibility of ally stats on or off to customize their UI preference.[/]
What is the Battle Overlay Plugin?
The Battle Overlay Plugin is a helper modification designed to run natively with the modern 64-bit engine. It overlays a semi-transparent HUD onto your game screen during combat, providing a clear reading of the battle state. It helps players optimize their battle strategy, steal attempts, and status tracking without breaking immersion.
Key Features
Active Allies Stats Panel: Track real-time HP, Max HP, MP, Max MP, and ATB values for up to three active combatants. Features custom color-coded HP and ATB progress bars.
Active Enemies Stats Panel: Track real-time HP, Max HP, MP, Max MP, and ATB values for all active enemies currently on screen.
Dynamic Steal Tracker: Displays (in green) or (in gray) next to each enemy so you never waste a turn attempting to steal from an empty pocket.
Sensed Status Indicator: Displays a yellow tag next to enemies that have been scanned with the Sense materia.
In-Game Toggle Hotkey: Hide or show the overlay instantly at any time by pressing Ctrl + Insert. The hotkey is window-aware and will only trigger if the game window is in the foreground.
Customizable Opacity: Customize HUD transparency directly through a simple config file.
Requirements
This plugin requires the FFVIISE Mod Loader (d3d11.dll) installed in your main game directory.
It runs natively on the 64-bit 2026 Steam Re-release and is not compatible with Seventh Heaven or downgraded 32-bit versions.
How to Install
1. Install the FFVIISE Mod Loader if you haven't already.
2. Download this plugin package.
3. Extract the downloaded files:
Copy battle_overlay.dll and battle_overlay.ini into your game's plugins/ directory.
(Typically: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\FINAL FANTASY VII Steam Edition\plugins\)
4. Launch the game and enter a battle to view the overlay.
Configuration Options
You can configure the plugin by opening battle_overlay.ini in any text editor:
Opacity (Default: 102): Adjusts the transparency of the overlay's black background panel. Set this between 0 (completely invisible) and 255 (solid black background).
* EnableLogging (Default: 0): Set to 1 to enable diagnostic logging. This creates a battle_overlay_log.txt file inside your plugins/ folder for troubleshooting.
