📋 About This Mod
The Archadian Alchemist introduces a new alchemy mechanic that allows you to modify equipment elements and attributes.
The Archadian Alchemist
Adds a full alchemy system to Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age.
Find an NPC in Nalbina Fortress, help him rebuild his workshop, and gain the ability to permanently modify your equipment: elements, stats, status effects, elemental affinities and more.
Comes with a ready-to-play preset. Every cost, limit, and unlock is fully customizable if you want to make it your own.
Thorne is a researcher who once served the Archadian Empire, sent to aid the war effort through alchemy. When the conflict ended, the Empire abandoned its outposts, leaving Thorne stranded in Nalbina Fortress with his work abandoned and supplies cut off.
When you encounter Thorne in Nalbina Fortress, his laboratory stands in disrepair. Helping him rebuild his workshop unlocks access to the alchemy system, allowing you to modify equipment in ways previously impossible.
What You Can Do
Once Thorne's workshop is up and running, you can bring him any weapon, armor, or accessory and modify it. All changes are permanent and synced to your save file, so your progress is never lost.
Refine Attributes
Push your equipment's stats beyond their base values. Attack, Defense, HP, Speed, Evasion, and more can all be improved. Higher tier equipment has higher ceilings, but even weaker gear can become significantly stronger. Just not stronger than the best in its class.
Refine equipment attributes to maximize your build's potential
Bind an Element
Add an elemental on-hit effect to any weapon: Fire, Lightning, Ice, Earth, Water, Wind, Holy, or Dark. Each element requires specific materials and gil. Bindings can be removed and replaced at any time.
Bind an element to equipment, reshaping its combat nature
Infuse Status Effects
Add status effects to equipment in three different ways:
-
[]On-Hit: chance to inflict a status on every attack[/]
[]On-Equip: permanently applies a buff while the item is worn[/]
[]Immunity: makes the wearer immune to a specific status[/]
Alter Elemental Affinity
Change how your equipment responds to elemental damage. Each element can be set to one of five affinities:
-
[]Weak: takes increased damage[/]
[]Half: takes reduced damage[/]
[]Immune: takes no damage[/]
[]Absorb: heals instead of taking damage[/]
[]Potency: deals increased elemental damage[/]
How Progression Works
Not everything is available from the start. Thorne's capabilities unlock gradually as you progress through the main story. Early on you gain access to basic attribute refinements and common elements. More powerful options, like rarer status effects, advanced affinities, and stronger attributes, unlock as you reach further into the game.
This keeps the system balanced and rewarding throughout the entire playthrough, not just endgame.
Costs and Balance
Every modification requires gil and specific loot items. Basic refinements use common reagents. Advanced transmutations require rarer materials. The further you push an attribute, the more expensive each step becomes.
Equipment that already sits above a category's ceiling cannot be refined further. Legendary gear stays legendary.
