📋 About This Mod
A note on reddit: I recommend using https://www.reddit.com/r/Fallout_VR/ for discussion of Fallout 4 VR modding in general. The main subreddit was taken over by a troll moderator named xMindweaverx who has banned many great fallout 4 vr mod creators
==================================
Institute,Vault 111, and Corvega Plant Run like hot garbage in VR even on high end hardware. It's due to the terrible and unoptimized lighting engine. Todd... IT DOESN'T ALWAYS WORK.
This will fix your performance and skyrocket your FPS into the stratosphere in thoes locations.
It'll look a bit strange since it gets rid of all interior lights at thoes locations.. But theres still ambiant lighting so it won't be totally pitch black.
Actually I think it looks alot better in Vault 111.. I mean if you think about it.. 200 years later the lights probably wouldn't be blaring that bright.
The Institute looks a bit odd.. but not odd enough to give up the amazing framerate.
UPDATE:
There is now a new mod which can turn back on the lights (Just for the institute) and keep good FPS for VR, GO and download Lucid Institute by KhaoMaat, There is a Patch included in that mod
Just install with your mod manager and make sure the it loads before the VR pipboy light if you use that mod.
LivelyNightmare is really the person that made this, I just uploaded it. So go give them an endorsement or donation!
If you're looking for a complete overhauled expierence that makes every aspect of the game better including performance (Runs much better then vanilla) Consider checking out Fallout VR Essentials we also have a Fallout VR Subreddit now

VR Performance Light Fix removes all lights in the Institute, Vault 111, and Corvega Plant to fix poor VR performance in Fallout 4 VR. It only affects these areas, preserving the game's lighting aesthetic elsewhere. A targeted performance mod for VR players.
✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Targeted fix: only touches three problem areas, so you keep the game's look everywhere else.
- Small and focused mod, easy to install and forget.
- Community-tested with 88 endorsements and over 7k downloads.
⚠️ Cons
- Removing lights in those areas might make them look flat or too dark, which could break immersion.
- Last updated in 2020, so it may not be compatible with newer VR patches or DLC.
- Only fixes three locations; other performance-heavy areas might still lag.
For Fallout 4 VR players who struggle with performance in the Institute, Vault 111, or Corvega Plant and want a quick fix without altering the whole game. Skip if you're fine with the performance or want a more comprehensive optimization mod.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Make sure you're running Fallout 4 VR, not the flat version, or this mod won't work.

- Test performance in the affected areas before and after to see the improvement.
