BREAKDOWN
Exactly what it sounds like! Explore the wasteland, make decisions, speak to people, and your karma will react accordingly.
You can balance and adjust the mod in the MCM, so you have agency over the system. This mod also works on all versions of Fallout 4.
Bounty Hunters:
- When you have Very Evil or Very Good karma, two different types of gunner bounty hunter squads may begin to spawn and track you down to collect your bounty.
- Bounty hunters are intended to be a source of stress at lower levels, and a fun challenge with a small reward at higher levels.
- Squads consist of one leader and up to three followers. Killing the Leader can cause some of the surviving Followers to panic and scatter/reposition for a few seconds, or it can frenzy them into bull-rushing you out of anger.
- Squads have a cooldown so you are not harassed every time you fast travel across the map. Squads cannot spawn in interiors, worldspaces such as Diamond City, Goodneighbor, or important quest locations.
- Bounty Hunters drop a small handful of caps on death, and killing them rewards 50% more experience than normal. This is intended to make them feel more rewarding at lower levels, and should help to prevent them from feeling like a waste of time or annoyance at higher levels.
Legendary Effects:
- Fencesitter’s (Weapons): Does 20% more damage while your Karma is Neutral.
- Ne’er-do-well’s (Weapons): Does more damage as your Karma decreases (up to +25%) and less damage as your Karma increases (up to -40%).
- Paragon's (Weapons): Does more damage as your Karma increases (up to +25%) and less damage as your Karma decreases (up to -40%).
NOTES
I'M USING CRIME AND PUNISHMENT. CAN I USE KARMA TOO?
Yes. You can use these mods together. However, do not uninstall CAP or KA
KARMA brings back the classic Karma system from Fallout 3/New Vegas with a fully responsive, polished implementation. It features custom-animated icons, high reactivity, and deep customization options, plus extensive utility for modders. A popular choice with nearly 2,000 endorsements and over 370,000 downloads.
✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Community favorite with 1,970 endorsements and 370k downloads—clearly a must-have for many
- Brings back a beloved mechanic from classic Fallouts, now with modern polish and animations
- Modder-friendly with built-in utility, so you can tweak it to fit your load order
⚠️ Cons
- Last updated June 2026, but no guarantee it works with the latest game patches or other overhaul mods
- Custom-animated icons might clash with UI overhaul mods if you don't patch them
For Fallout players who miss the moral weight of Karma from the older games and want a polished, reactive system. Also great for mod authors who want to build on a solid framework. Skip if you prefer a more streamlined or modern morality system without the classic Karma baggage.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Since it's a gameplay mod, make sure to load it after any UI or HUD mods to avoid icon conflicts.
- Check the mod's comments or forum threads for user patches if you're using popular overhauls like FWE or Project Nevada.
- If you're on a mod manager, use the 'Preview' feature to see the animated icons before committing.
