📋 About This Mod
~~~Update~~~
Updated for NextGen. Recompiled scripts and repacked into new ba2 archive.
Now handles entering/exiting Vertibirds properly.
Now registers with the Canary Save File Monitor (optional).
Detection and speed upgrade:
detection of drawing weapons or going into sneak mode is near-instant
detection of sheathing weapons or going out of sneak mode has a 10-second delay - this is because of the game animations sometimes having to "hunt" for a way to get into terminals and power armor (unavoidable, sorry - Power Armor is the real problem, slow as a slug)
better detection and dealing with Power Armor
slowed returning to last-known "ready state" upon exiting furniture/power armor/terminals/workbenches (0. 7 second, seems to be about the safe limit)
handles swimming
~~~Basics~~~
When you exit the Pipboy, you go straight back into the state you were in when you entered it. (Sneaking, weapons drawn, etc.) When you exit a terminal, you stand up like an idiot - with no weapons in your hands. (Double-idiot.)
This mod puts you back into the same state you were in when you got into the terminal. (Now includes: furniture, power armor, and workbenches.) Examples:
standing, no weapon
standing, weapon
sneaking, no weapon
sneaking, weapon
~~~Power Armor~~~
when putting a fusion core into the power armor
when entering the power armor
when exiting the power armor
~~~Honorable Mentions~~~
damanding/crayonkit, who made me start thinking about terminals
kinggath, who gave a couple of hints that helped me along
Scrivener07, a huge help with animation events
KernalsEgg, helped with detecting swimming
Sacremas, for testing the swimming version and other bugs
~~~Known Issues~~~
When entering furniture/power armor/terminals/workbenches (especially Power Armor and Terminals) it can take a while for the game to "hunt" how to enter. You know what I mean: your character viewpoint goes side-to-side a few times before you get put into the terminal. This is a basic game engine/animation issue.
To cater for this there is a 10-second detection delay upon leaving sneak mode or putting away your weapon. If you go into furniture/power armor/terminals/workbenches during that time, the mod may still think that you were in sneak mode or had your weapon drawn. When you come out it puts you back into the sneak/weapons state that it thinks you had.
At present I don't know how to deal with that. If you have a solution - awesome! Let me know!
- Solves a real annoyance for players who hate getting caught off guard
- Lightweight mod that doesn't overhaul anything else
⚠️ Cons
- May conflict with other mods that alter terminal interactions
- Could break immersion if you expect a realistic animation
- No explicit compatibility info with popular overhaul mods
For Fallout 4 players who hate the vulnerability window when exiting terminals, especially in combat-heavy playthroughs. If you're a survival mode player or someone who frequently gets ambushed, this is a must-have. Skip if you prefer vanilla animations or don't mind the delay.
