What does this mod do?
This mod addresses a bug with the Armor Penetration System. It prevents incorrect stat overwriting when unequipping or changing weapons, ensuring accurate and consistent gameplay experience.
This fix now also works for all NPCs.
This mod does not contain a ESP or ESL file. It's only a .dll file.
Wait, there is already a mod that does that!
Yes and no. Unfortunately I discovered, that the fix is working too good. When changing weapons with hotkeys, it will reset the armor penetration amount to 0, even when the equipped weapon has armor penetration. It practically disabled Armor Penetration, when using hotkeys. The other armor penetration bug fix mod is now hidden, with a link to this mod(currently not working as Nexusmods doesnt let me mark that mod as obsolete.). This F4SE solution works without this bug and is faster than the scripted version.
Can I update from the old mod?
Yes! I verified that.

✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Huge community trust: 4,271 endorsements and over half a million downloads
- Directly fixes a frustrating stat bug that affects combat balance
- Lightweight and focused—does exactly what it says without bloat
⚠️ Cons
- Requires F4SE, so you'll need to install that first if you haven't
- Only addresses armor penetration stat overwriting—no other bug fixes included
- Last updated July 2026, so it's current, but if the game updates, F4SE might break it temporarily
For Fallout 4 players who've noticed armor penetration stats not sticking when swapping weapons or gear. If you're a power armor or high-DPS build that relies on penetration, this is a must-have. Skip if you never use armor penetration perks or mods—this won't affect your game.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Install F4SE first—this mod won't work without it, and make sure you launch the game through f4se_loader.exe
- If you're using a mod manager like Vortex or MO2, let it handle the F4SE installation to avoid conflicts
- After installing, test by equipping and unequipping a weapon with armor penetration to confirm the fix is active
