📋 About This Mod

A Forest is my absolute favourite greening mod on the Nexus. For me, nothing even comes close. A while back, I was playing around with trying to disable a % of the trees with a script, for users who wanted a less dense experience.

To use the script, put it in your edit scripts folder. Load the forest into fo4dit, right click on it's worldspace record category, and apply the script.

After running the script, you will need to regenerate LOD- I recommend following the FOLODIP guide for this.

To change the number of trees removed, you need to edit this line

count := count + 35; //change the number here to change the percentage of trees removed

The default is 35 percent, to use a different percentage, just change 35 to something else.

🤖 AI-enhanced — based on mod data

A lightweight script for removing a percentage of trees from the A Forest plugin, aimed at modders and performance-conscious players. With 38 endorsements and 12,372 downloads, it's a niche tool that has seen steady use since its December 2023 update.

✨ Key Features

Removes a configurable percentage of trees from the A Forest plugin
Targets modders and players looking to optimize forest density
Last updated December 2023, indicating recent maintenance

📊 Pros & Cons

✅ Pros

  • Decent download count (12,372) shows real demand for tree reduction
  • Simple script approach—no complex dependencies to wrestle with
  • Active as of late 2023, so it's not a dead project

⚠️ Cons

  • Low endorsement ratio (38) suggests it's a niche tool, not a community favorite
  • Requires the A Forest plugin to work, so it's useless without that base mod
  • Potential compatibility issues if A Forest updates its tree placement logic
🎯 Is This For You?
For modders who use A Forest and want to tweak tree density for performance or aesthetics. Also handy for players who find the default forest too thick but don't want to manually edit plugins. Skip if you don't use A Forest or expect a full-featured mod—this is a utility script, not a content pack.
📦 Install:Easy· Under 1 minute

💡 Beginner Tips

  • Make sure you have A Forest installed and loaded before running this script, or it won't find the trees to remove.
  • Test the script on a backup of your load order first—removing trees is permanent unless you reinstall A Forest.
  • If you're on a mod manager, run the script after A Forest is active to avoid overwriting changes.
