📋 About This Mod
Description
If you are playing with an ultra-wide (21:9) resolution, a black rectangle can be seen whenever any fade-to-black or fade-to-white effects occur (e.g. loading a cell or save). This is caused by the fade effect not being large enough to cover the entire screen.
This mod provides an engine fix for the bug, without breaking the fade-to-black and fade-to-white effects.
Additionally the mod fixes the FOV for the Scope, LockPick, and Terminal menus to fix them being too large.
An example of the bug (in New Vegas) can be seen here:

Engine fix for Fallout 4 that corrects the fade-to-black shader not covering ultrawide screens during cell transitions, and adds configurable FOV for menus and scopes to prevent excessive zoom. A niche utility for ultrawide monitor users, with 172 endorsements and last updated in April 2020.
✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Directly addresses a common annoyance for ultrawide users—no more black bars during loading screens.
- Configurable FOV for menus and scopes means you can dial in the perfect zoom level.
- Solid community trust with 172 endorsements and over 9,000 downloads.
⚠️ Cons
- Last updated in April 2020—may not be compatible with the latest game patches or DLC.
- Only affects ultrawide setups; standard 16:9 players won't see any benefit.
- Requires manual INI tweaking to set custom FOV values, which might intimidate casual modders.
For ultrawide monitor owners who are tired of the fade-to-black effect not covering the screen and menus/scopes being zoomed in too far. If you're on a standard monitor, this mod won't do anything for you—skip it.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Make sure your game is set to borderless windowed or fullscreen to properly see the fade fix.
- Use the mod's INI file to adjust menu and scope FOV to your preference—start with values close to your default FOV.
- If you're using a mod manager, install manually by dropping the files into your Data folder to avoid conflicts.
