DESCRIPTION
Vanilla-friendly retexture of the Deathclaw. Done with a combination of AI upscaling using various specialized models and scratch-made texture work. I took some additional steps to add depth to the very flat diffuse map. It now features some baked shading and highlights. The normal map is a combination of AI upscaling and manual texture work as well, and contains a lot of added small scale details.
I tried my best to improve on the Domestication Unit as well. Though I didn't have a lot to work with there.
INSTALLATION
Using Vortex - overwrite if asked. Using MO2 - put it below other mods containing these textures (higher priority).

✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Community favorite with 769 endorsements and over 111k downloads—clearly a go-to for Deathclaw fans
- Vanilla-friendly approach means it won't clash with other texture mods or the game's art style
- 4K resolution gives those claws and scales a serious detail boost without needing a new model
⚠️ Cons
- Last updated in 2020—might not be tested with the latest Fallout 4 updates or DLC, so watch for conflicts
- Only covers the Deathclaw, so if you want other creatures retextured, you'll need to grab separate mods
- 4K textures can be a performance hit on lower-end rigs, especially during intense fights with multiple Deathclaws
For Fallout 4 players who want a sharper, more detailed Deathclaw without straying from the vanilla look. If you're a texture enthusiast building a visual overhaul, this is a solid pick. Skip if you're looking for gameplay changes or a complete creature retexture pack.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Since it's a simple texture replacer, just drop the files into your Data folder or use a mod manager like Vortex or Mod Organizer 2.
- If you're using other Deathclaw mods, load this one after them to ensure the textures take priority.
- Check your game's texture quality settings—if you're on a lower-end PC, you might want to use a 2K version if available to save performance.
