LED Flashlight

Description

Civilization in Dying Light lasted until roughly 2022, by which point LED flashlights were commonplace. The vanilla beam always struck me as something closer to an old incandescent flashlight.

That makes some sense for the claustrophobic horror-survival atmosphere the game is going for. It still bugged me.

LED Flashlight replaces the normal flashlight with a cleaner, more modern LED-style beam without turning it into a brighter-flashlight mod.

Dark spaces still feel dark.

  []Long, gradual falloff instead of an abrupt circle of light.[/]

  []Slightly less total light than vanilla, so the flashlight helps you see without flattening the darkness.[/]

  []Reduced flashlight fog, shafts and particle glare.[/]

  Before You Install

  LED Flashlight has two Main Files. Install both, and make sure their version numbers match.

  • []LED Flashlight - Core — brightness, color, beam geometry, fog and shadow tuning. This is the mergeable PAK.[/]

    []LED Flashlight - Smooth Beam — the clean projector texture and gradual edge falloff. This is the version-specific RPACK.[/]

    Optional files offer different brightness levels and the vanilla battery dimming. Choose one Core file and one Smooth Beam file.

    Installation

    Vortex

    • []Download, install and enable both LED Flashlight Main Files.[/]

      []Deploy mods.[/]

      []If Vortex reports a conflict involving engine_pc.rpack, let LED Flashlight - Smooth Beam win.[/]

      []Run the merger utility from the Vortex notification or dashboard.[/]

      []Launch the game normally.[/]

      Manual Installation

      Core:

      For a simple manual installation, place the Core file's data6.pak in:

      ph_ft\source

      If you use other PAK mods, merge the Core with Super Mod Merger instead so its changes combine with your other mods rather than replacing them.

      Smooth Beam:

      ph_ft\work\data_platform\pc\assets\engine_pc.rpack

      Then extract the Smooth Beam archive into the game directory and allow it to repla
