Armor of The Sten Reconstruction (2026)

ABOUT THIS MOD:

Finally had to sit myself down and have a talk with myself about my obsession with perfection.  It went kinda like this:

  So here we are.  It's not just me, everybody seems to love Duncan's armor Armor of the Sten!

  Armor of The Sten Reconstruction (2026) has been a labor of love.  It's time to set it free :3

  INSTALLATION: go stuff it in your overrides ;3

  LONG RAMBLING:

  It was a great choice by ChiZ to keep Duncan's armor mesh in the game as something Sten can use.  It seems to really suit him.  I felt some of the armor parts could use clearer visual separation with the original AotS textures, especially at a distance.  I like the original colors, I think the textures just needed to be handled with care, so that's what I've tried to do.

  I did many upscales using different models. then pared them down and composited them into one 4K texture as my base.  Then I edited that:

  - made a "new" shoulder lion (from the original art) which doesn't have such egregious baked-in reflections (the smaller ones still do, but meh)

  - revamped the shiny metal bits while trying to honor the original "intent" (which I can only guess at).  I took a little artistic license

  - the chainmail is obviously the biggest change here, it wouldn't upscale well no matter what I did.  So I remade it from scratch.  Huh.  Didn't know I could do that.

  - major overhaul of the red cloth.  The source art was very damaged so I put a lot of work into this.  Now there are two options - smooth silk/satin, or velvet.

  - color-neutral texture added to some of the leather, but absolutely no color adjustments.  I wanted to showcase the original color choices.

  - Not sure if the floral design was meant to be embossed leather or what, but now it's definitely cloth, with a fine woven fabric texture.

  - don't @me about the legs and boots, ugh.  I know.  I'm so tired.  Maybe in a future update ;'3
