📋 About This Mod
Randomize enemies, bosses, items, and progression in Dark Souls Remastered. Each seed creates a unique and unpredictable playthrough with new encounters and loot placements while keeping the game completable. Perfect for challenging,
DS1 Enemy and Item Randomizer is a deterministic, pre-game randomizer designed to completely transform your journey through Lordran while keeping each generated run reproducible and configurable.
Instead of modifying the game while it is running, the randomizer reads data from your own clean Dark Souls Remastered installation, generates an isolated seed package, and only modifies the game when you choose to activate that package.
Enemies, bosses, world items, starting classes, equipment, NPC rewards, enemy drops, shops, and more can all be randomized independently.
Every category uses deterministic randomization, meaning the same seed, settings, randomizer version, and compatible game data will reproduce the same placements.
Main Features
Enemy Randomizer
More than 1,800 hostile enemy slots across all gameplay maps can participate in the randomization.
Enemy placement uses a global permutation system, meaning enemies trade locations instead of simply being duplicated or deleted.
The randomizer supports cross-map enemy placement and handles many of the technical problems that normally occur when moving Dark Souls enemies outside their original maps, including:
-
[]AI scripts[/]
[]visual effects[/]
[]projectiles[/]
[]elemental effects[/]
[]event-controlled enemies[/]
[]dummy enemy slots[/]
[]encounter activation[/]
[]resource limits[/]
[]model-specific animations[/]
[]map-specific enemy behavior[/]
Enemy randomization is intentionally unrestricted by original enemy difficulty, size, height, movement type, or navigation style, allowing extremely unpredictable encounters.
Additional safeguards are applied to known problematic locations and enemy types.
Enemy Scaling
Enemy statistics can be adjusted depending on your selected configuration.
The randomizer supports different scaling behavior, including destination-based scaling that adapts enemies to the area where they appear.
Area scaling can inherit attributes such as:
-
[]HP[/]
[]stamina[/]
[]defenses[/]
[]resistances[/]
[]souls[/]
[]combat scaling effects[/]
This helps prevent hidden late-game multipliers from being carried into early-game encounters.
You can also preserve the source enemy's original strength if you want a much less predictable and potentially much harder experience.
Boss Randomizer
Boss encounters can also be randomized.
Bosses exchange locations only with actual boss encounters, while regular enemies such as ordinary Anor Londo Gargoyles remain outside the boss pool.
The randomizer includes special handling for several encounters that normally depend heavily on scripted behavior or unusual arena positioning.
Supported systems include:
-
[]randomized boss names on health bars[/]
[]terrain-safe boss positions[/]
[]boss AI activation[/]
[]multi-part boss groups[/]
[]detachable boss parts[/]
[]special arena handling[/]
[]powered Ornstein and Smough phases as separate archetypes[/]
[]Four Kings handling[/]
[]Bed of Chaos replacement handling[/]
[]Moonlight Butterfly[/]
[]Ceaseless Discharge[/]
[]Dark Sun Gwyndolin[/]
[]Sanctuary Guardian[/]
[]Bell Gargoyles[/]
[]Centipede Demon[/]
[]Asylum encounters[/]
Boss randomization is still experimental.
Dark Souls contains many bosses with highly specialized animations, events, arena logic, and scripting. Some unusual interactions may still occur.
Dragon and Special Enemy Handling
Dragons use their own compatible randomization pool.
Linked enemy parts remain together when required.
Examples include:
-
[]dragon tails[/]
[]wings[/]
[]legs[/]
[]encounter variants[/]
[]Hydra bodies and heads[/]
[]Gargoyle removable parts[/]
[]Sanctuary Guardian parts[/]
[]Centipede Demon parts[/]
Humanity enemies of multiple sizes also participate in the regular enemy permutation.
