DLC Boss Resistance Overhaul

Overview

This mod overhauls the elemental resistances of bosses from the Artorias of the Abyss expansion.

FromSoftware gave all DLC bosses ridiculous elemental resistances, likely in an effort to make them more "balanced". Magic is really strong in Dark Souls 1, maybe even overpowered. So giving the bosses very high resistances was an easy way to rein it in. However, this is a very lazy way of doing it and creates some issues. For example, it basically makes elemental weapons useless, as they already have comparable damage to physical weapons, but now have to go through insanely high resistances, which results in them doing pitiful damage.

This mod adjusts elemental resistances to be more reasonable. Physical damage remains unchanged as it is still the best damage type. Generally, I tried to maintain the original elemental resistances and weaknesses of bosses. Sometimes I looked at bosses from newer Souls games for reference to see how FromSoftware balances them now. You can even fight Artorias himself in Elden Ring Nighterign, so I basically backported his absorptions from there as they fit perfectly in my opinion.

Will this mod make the game easier for magic builds? Yes. But it will simply be on the same difficulty level as the base game now, maybe a little tougher. Compared to the vanilla game, where there is an insane spike in boss survivability in the DLC.

Compatibility

Not compatible with mods that modify the same GameParam file as this mod does, which sadly means pretty much all gameplay-related mods. Everything else should work together without issues.

I provide a version compatible with Dark Souls 1 PvP Overhaul, which I recommend using if you plan to play online. Note that this mod will only work when using the Legacy mode of PvP Overhaul, not Overhaul mode.

You can also download a JSON file for Smithbox Param Delta Patcher from Optional Files so that you can easily merge it with other mods yourself.

Installation

File Replacement (Vanilla game)

• [](Optional) Back up your original game files so that you can uninstall the mod.

  []Drop the param folder from the mod file into your Dark Souls Remastered install directory and overwrite files when asked.

Alternatively, you can also use Mod Engine 2 to install it like any other mod.

PvP Overhaul
