📋 About This Mod

Description

Have you ever played any of the newer Souls games and been able to roll in any direction only to return to Dark Souls Remastered and wonder, "What were they thinking? Why can I only roll in four directions?"

Fret not, friends. Now you don't have to.

Omnidirectional Rolling removes Dark Souls Remastered’s four-direction rolling restriction while locked onto an enemy.

In the original game, locking on limits rolls to forward, backward, left, and right. This mod replaces that restriction with accurate analog movement, allowing you to roll freely in any direction around your target.

Diagonal rolls, shallow angles, rear diagonals, and full circular movement respond naturally to the direction of the left analog stick. You can also chain multiple rolls together while changing direction between each roll, including when buffering the next roll before the current animation has finished.

The goal is not to make rolling easier or alter combat balance. The mod preserves the game’s normal stamina costs, roll timing, recovery, input buffering, and number of rolls. It simply gives locked-on movement the same directional freedom already available while playing unlocked.

You no longer need to fight with the camera unlocked just to retain full control of your movement.

Disable online play before using. Online play is disabled by default in the INI included with the mod.

    Planned for the Future:

I may have to release more updates for this in the future as I make different mods. I may need to update this to be compatible with the others.

Removes the restriction to North, South, East, or West directions.
Allows keeping the camera locked during combat without sacrificing movement freedom.
Designed to preserve basic quality of life during combat.

📊 Pros & Cons

✅ Pros

  • Solves a real annoyance for locked-on combat – no more rolling into walls when you meant to dodge sideways.
  • Small but active community (15 endorsements) and recently updated, so it's likely compatible with current game version.
  • Lightweight gameplay tweak that doesn't overhaul anything else – pure QoL improvement.

⚠️ Cons

  • Very low endorsement count (15) – might be under-tested or overlooked.
  • Only affects rolling while locked on – if you're not into locked-on combat, this mod does nothing for you.
🎯 Is This For You?
For Dark Souls Remastered players who rely on locked-on combat and hate the limited dodge directions. If you've ever rolled straight into a boss attack because you couldn't angle your dodge, this mod is for you. Skip it if you play unlocked most of the time or prefer gameplay overhauls.
📦 Install:Easy· Under 1 minute

💡 Beginner Tips

  • Since it's a simple gameplay tweak, make sure to back up your original game files before replacing anything.
  • If you use a mod manager like Vortex, check if the mod is compatible with your game version – it was updated recently, so likely fine.
  • Test the rolling in a safe area first to get used to the new freedom – it changes dodge timing slightly.
