📋 About This Mod

A simple tool that allows users to make their custom Keyboard & Mouse controls visible in-game in Dark Souls 2 - Scholar of the First Sin. Supports ALL Keyboard & Mouse buttons and it is extremely easy and intuitive to use. Optionally, it

Overview

- Custom-built tool to easily set up Keyboard & Mouse in-game UI icons/prompts for Dark Souls 2 - Scholar of the First Sin.

- No modding knowledge required, the tool handles everything automatically.

- Full support for every single Keyboard & Mouse button.

- Optionally, it can change the Lock-On Reticle to a more modern one.

How to Use

0. Download and install the DS Texoverride 0. 2 optional pack from the DS2LightingEngine SotFS mod (required). You do NOT necessarily need to install the entire DS2LightingEngine SotFS mod for mine to work, you technically only need DS Texoverride 0. 2.

1. Download the mod.

2. Open the extracted folder, run "DS2 KBM Prompt Setup.bat".

3. Choose whether you want to use Vanilla (1) or the Modern (2) Lock-On Reticle - press ENTER.

4. Now for every single control the program asks for, set its desired code (table will be on the screen) - press ENTER for each to move on to the next.

5. When the program finishes, it will create a folder called "Game"

6. Merge this folder with your own "Game" folder + overwrite existing files.

7. Done - enter the game and see all your controls reflected in-game.

Notes

- Movement Direction and Menu Direction keys only support the Number/Letter/Arrow/Punctuation keys (CODES: 0-35, 77-91), as seen above - the way the game was made limits how visible other button prompts could ever be as they can only be about 10x10 pixels large. This is no big issue as I reckon nobody is walking around holding F12.

- Switch Menu Tab Left/Right supports the special vanilla control combo of SHIFT + LEFT ARROW and SHIFT + RIGHT ARROW. You can use them via codes 115/116 only for those two keys (seen on the above screenshot).

- If you accidentally close the program before finishing, no worries, just start again and it will automatically clean up any issues.

- There are separate prompt possibilities for ALT/CTRL/SHIFT/WIN - they all have Left/Right/Generic forms. Choose whichever you like.

- The modern Lock-On Reticle is reminiscent of Dark Souls 3 / Bloodborne / Elden Ring (screenshot below).

Compatibility

- Incompatible with mods modifying/overriding the following textures: h_2340644658526501564h_8808880202928476952.dds (if using the modern reticle), ui_joystick_icons.dds, ui_joystick_status_effects.dds

Credits

- JinkiJinn for inspiring this mod and the graphics style. I have learned a great deal from his own mod here: Keyboard and mouse UI prompts for Bloodborne.

- Ganaboy for creating the DS2LightingEngine SotFS mod.

- The ImageMagick team for ImageMagick, which my tool pr
