⚙️ REQUIREMENTS

You need UXM Selective Unpack before installing this.

Dark Souls 2 stores all its files packed inside game archives. The folder structure this mod installs into does not exist until UXM creates it. UXM also patches the game executable to actually read loose files, because by default the game ignores them entirely and reads the archives instead. Both steps inside UXM are required, Unpack and Patch. If you skip either one the mod will not work.

📥 INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

Step 0 - Run UXM first if you have not already

1. Download UXM Selective Unpack from the link above.

2. Open it, click Browse, and point it to your game executable:

  Dark Souls II DX9 Vanilla: `<SteamLibrary>\steamapps\common\Dark Souls II\Game\DarkSoulsII.exe`

3. Click Unpack and wait for it to finish.

4. Click Patch. Once both are done you can close UXM and proceed.

Step 1 - Back up your original file

1. Navigate to your game's menu directory:

  `<SteamLibrary>\steamapps\common\Dark Souls II\Game\menu\`

2. Locate the target file: `01.febnd.dcx`

3. Copy it and save the copy to a safe location or rename it to: `01.febnd.dcx.backup`.

Step 2 - Install the mod

1. Open the `Variants` folder from this mod download.

2. Choose your preferred color variant folder.

3. Copy the modified `01.febnd.dcx` file located inside.

4. Paste it directly into your game's `<SteamLibrary>\steamapps\common\Dark Souls II\Game\menu` folder, replacing the existing file when Windows asks.

5. The file must stay named exactly 01.febnd.dcx. Do not rename it.

Step 3 - Launch the game

1. Open your game, trigger a boss encounter, and see your new interface in action.
