📋 About This Mod
Disables the automatic camera reset that normally snaps behind your character during movement.
This version is implemented as a DLL plugin for Mod Engine 2.
This is the same thing Elden Ring has a setting for "Camera Auto Rotation".
Using it offline is recommended.
How to Install:
1. Download and install Mod Engine 2 [https://github.com/soulsmods/ModEngine2/releases]
2. Place the DisableAutoCam.dll into the folder where launchmod_darksouls3.bat file is located
3. Open the config_darksouls3.toml file from Mod Engine and add the dll to the external_dlls shown below:
external_dlls = [
"DisableAutoCam.dll",
]4. Play the game trough the launchmod_darksouls3.bat or modengine2_launcher.exe.
One more time for the people in the back:
1. You downloaded two things: this mod (a .zip containing DisableAutoCam.dll) and Mod Engine 2 (also a .zip). Both are zipped, so you need to extract them.
2. Extract Mod Engine 2. Right-click the ModEngine2 zip → "Extract All". You now have a folder called something like ModEngine-2.x.x-win64. This is your Mod Engine folder. Open it. Inside you should see a file named launchmod_darksouls3.bat. That's the folder we're working in for everything below.
3. Extract this mod. Right-click the mod's zip → "Extract All". Inside you'll find DisableAutoCam.dll.
4. Copy the dll into the Mod Engine folder. Drag DisableAutoCam.dll into the same folder as launchmod_darksouls3.bat (the folder from step 2). It sits right next to that .bat file.
5. Edit the config file. In that same folder, find config_darksouls3.toml. Right-click it → "Open with" → Notepad. Find this line:
external_dlls = [ ]Change it so it looks exactly like this:
external_dlls = [
"DisableAutoCam.dll",
]Keep the quotes and the comma. Then save the file and close it.
Launch the game. Double-click launchmod_darksouls3.bat in that same folder. A black window will flash up and the game will start with the mod active. Done.
Do NOT launch the game through Steam, it won't load the mod that way. You must launch using the .bat file every time.
This is how it should look like:
If the game doesn't launch trough the bat file maybe this could help:

Disclaimer:
* I have no idea if this mod is bannable or not.

✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Does exactly what it says—no more camera fighting you while you move
- Lightweight and recent (updated July 2025), so likely compatible with current game version
- Small but dedicated user base (35 endorsements) suggests it works for those who need it
⚠️ Cons
- Very niche—if you don't mind auto-rotation, this mod does nothing for you
- Low endorsement count (35) means limited community feedback and troubleshooting
For players who find the default camera auto-rotation annoying and want full manual control. Skip if you're fine with the default behavior or want more complex camera tweaks.
