Come Sail Away

UPDATE 2. 0 NOTE: THIS WILL NUKE BOATS AND CARGO FROM PREVIOUS VERSIONS. RETRIEVING ALL CARGO AND MAKING A SAVE WHERE YOU'RE NOT SAILING IS RECOMMENDED BEFORE UPGRADING. USE THE GIVEBOAT CONSOLE COMMAND TO RESTORE YOUR BOAT AFTERWARDS.

I wanted to mess around with the various boat models in the game files so I ended up with this. In the end, PIN2 offered to process the models to my specifications and that's how we got here.

DISCLAIMER: I know very little about sailing or winds or anything. The mechanics are simply based on hearsay, cursory googling and the implementation of other games (eg, Valheim, Sea of Thieves, etc)

STARTING OUT

• []You can purchase boats from General Stores. Look for Parts or Deed items on the shelves, subject to shop shelf RNG.[/]

  []Each Parts or Deed item is labelled with the boat it will place when used.[/]

  []There are currently four available types: Rowboat, Large Boat, Small Ship and Large Galley (the names are taken from the game files, referring to each vanilla ship model)[/]

• []Parts can be used anywhere and placed as long as the player is outside and the selected point is water.[/]

  []Rowboats are usually purchased as Parts.[/]

  []Rowboats and Large Boats are packed into Parts when stored in your inventory.[/]

  []Parts have weight and are heavy. Any cargo stored in a boat that is packed adds their weight to the resulting Parts item.[/]

• []Deeds can only be used within a configurable distance (Default: 3 map pixels) from a Port location, or within the same map pixel of an already-placed boat; in addition to the same limitations as the Parts item.[/]

  []If you purchase a Deed, you must travel to a port and go to a nearby water area to place the boat. Think of it as "claiming" a boat stored in that port.[/]

  []If a boat is crewed (eg, the Small Ship and Large Galleon) the Deed is not removed when its boat is placed.[/]

  []You can use the Deed to reposition its placed boat when in the same map pixel (if it gets beached) or when you're at a port location (as if the crew sails the ship to you)[/]

• []Once you have purchased either a Parts or Deed item, you can USE the item in order to start placing it in the world.[/]

  []While in Placing mode, use your ACTIVATE CENTER OBJECT action (usually Left Mouse Button) to place the boat on a suitable water tile.[/]

  []You may only place a boat when not inside a building and on a water tile.[/]

[]Activate the rower's seat in GRAB mode to begin driving the boat[/]
