📋 About This Mod

- Introduction -

Night City is full of people with eyes, ears, and opinions and vanilla doesn't care about most of that... NPCs have the awareness of a brick and the memory of a goldfish. You can walk right past a Maelstromer in full Arasaka corpo gear and he won't care. You can draw a gun in the middle of a crowd and nobody blinks and eye, may even say hi if they feel like it. And my personal favourite? Crouch in broad daylight two meters from a guard? Invisibility coat on ~ ima be Harry Potter now!

On the Nexus, over time, there have been some great mods released that change up certain aspects of this, all with their own small additions and tweaks. However a lot of these mods don't work with one another, and in other cases where they might overlap. This all creates confusion and difficulty picking so I decided to look at the best ones out there and then make my own version including all the different concepts.

In essence I am taking the detection pipeline and I am rewriting it to be a step-by-step process where each of the various tweaks fit into each and make sense. Then I sprinkle a bit of magic on top with my own flavor of what you wear matters. Now you can intimidate your way past gangers, or maybe wearing something skimpy will have the NPC focus too much on your curves to notice he should be drawing his gun at you. I make it distinctly different to play male and female, but not in a way that would break the game, I just add that as flavor if you want to play it that way. You can also wear their gear and perhaps fool your way into their place before you do whatever business you've got there.

Detection is now a pipeline of checks that considers line of sight, distance, lighting, weather, what you're wearing, what you're holding, who you're pretending to be, and whether the NPCs in the area have a reason to be paranoid. Every factor stacks multiplicatively, so being crouched in the dark during rain wearing faction-appropriate gear with your weapon holstered makes you genuinely hard to spot.

TL;DR: NPCs got eyes. And brains. And opinions about your fashion choices. ◝(ᵔᗜᵔ)◜

- Request -

This mod uses lists of clothing items to determine whether they're revealing, give positive reactions or instigate fear or intimidation. Since 5. 6. 0 those lists live in DigitalVixen Core's item database (r6\storages\DigitalVixenCore\itemfacts.json) and you can fix or extend them yourself: the DVCore Item Editor window (RedWindows) or a row in itemfacts.user.json, which survives updates. The item's tooltip tells you how a piece currently reads (Flaunts your body's curves, Hides your face, Sneakers - quiet step...), so you can see what you are changing.

I would still really appreciate reports of clothing items that should be part of one of the following:

  • []Revealing - items which when worn are quite revealing.[/]

[]Positive - items which when worn makes others smile a bit extra - for example nice earrings or a nice necklace.[/]

[]Intimidating - items which would make the general populace take a sidestep when meeting you on the street.[/]

[]Fear - items which would make NPCs not only sidestep but run away in a different direction.[/]

[]Annoyed - items which would make NPCs annoyed with you.[/]

When you report the items, please include their real item names such as: Items.veegee_kai_silva_mask_ if there are variations, or Items.mayo_fabric_black_bikini if the item/variations need to be specified in full.

    - The Detection Pipeline -

Every NPC with a sense component runs this pipeline. Since 6. 0. 0 Street Sense owns the engine's own "ignore this target" switch for the player instead of only slowing the meter underneath it. Everything the mod does not claim still goes to the base game untouched: a squad already in a fight with you, quest characters, the crowd and sleepers. Optical Camo is the base game's and stacks on top: beyond an NPC's range you stay hidden with or without it, inside it the camo slows the meter further.

Two questions are asked per NPC, in this order.

Question 1: Is this NPC's meter held shut for you?

Yes when any of these hold, and then the NPC does not detect you at all until it stops holding:

[*]Out of sight - beyond the range this NPC can see you at all: Base Sight Range (75 m, slider 50-150) x night x rain x crouch, stacked. Night alone is 49 m, night and heavy rain 32 m, crouched in night rain 19 m. Street Sense gives NPCs eyes out to 150 m where the bas
