📋 About This Mod
Thanks to the Cyberpunk 2077 modding community on Discord for helping me find the right spots in the game and pointing me in the right direction.
Silent Bodies fixes a long-standing stealth issue where NPCs can get alerted by dead bodies even when they shouldn’t realistically be able to see them.
In vanilla behavior, a single corpse can trigger alerts through cars, cover, or solid geometry, often even immediately after loading a save. This mod adds a proper line-of-sight validation before an NPC reacts to a dead body.
Experimental Version features (0. 3a)
New Features:
-
[]Smooth Day/Night Detection: NPC detection range now scales smoothly with time of day using actual in-game TimeSystem (dawn/dusk transitions instead of hard hour cutoffs)
[
]Weather Integration: Rain reduces NPC detection range (light rain: 85%, heavy rain: 65%)[]NPC Field of View: NPCs can only detect bodies within their FOV cone, which varies by awareness state (Relaxed: 80°, Alerted: 120°, Combat: 150°). Bodies at your feet (< 3m) bypass FOV
[]NPC Awareness Scaling: Alerted NPCs detect 1. 5x farther, Combat 2. 0x, Stealth 1. 3x
[]Enhanced Player Detection Module: Now factors in player locomotion state (crouching: 0. 6x, sprinting: 1. 3x detection range)
[]Distance-Based Detection Probability (off by default): Quadratic falloff: guaranteed detection within 5m, decreasing chance beyond that
[]CityLightSystem Integration: Detects city-wide blackout events (quest-triggered power outages reduce detection to 30%)
[]Local Light Probe (off by default, experimental): Scans nearby light entities to estimate local illumination. Dark alleys = harder detection, well-lit streets = normal detection. Heavily throttled for performance (scans every 2s, capped entity iteration)
-
[]Settings reorganized into categories: Core, Raycast, NPC FOV, NPC Awareness, Day/Night & Light, Weather, Player Detection, Distance Probability, Light Probe
[
]Removed old integer-based night hour settings and manual light approximation[]All new features can be individually toggled and tuned in ModSettings
How it works:
-
[]When an NPC is about to be alerted by a corpse, the mod performs multiple raycasts from the NPC’s eye position to different vertical points on the body (head / torso / lower body).
[]If none of the rays have a clear path, the alert is canceled.
[]Optional distance limiting ensures vanilla behavior is preserved at long ranges.
Result: stealth plays as expected, no more psychic corpse detection, fewer false alerts, and cleaner stealth runs.

Silent Bodies stops NPCs from spotting dead bodies through walls, vehicles, or props by adding a real line-of-sight check. It makes stealth more consistent and fair, and is fully configurable via Codeware. A solid gameplay tweak for stealth-focused players.
✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Huge community trust (335 endorsements, 129k downloads) — this is a proven fix.
- Makes stealth actually fair — no more getting caught through a wall.
- Configurable via Codeware, so you can tweak it to your playstyle.
⚠️ Cons
- Requires Codeware — if you don't have it, you'll need to install it first.
- Only affects corpse detection — doesn't change other stealth mechanics.
- Last updated Feb 2026 — might not be compatible with future game patches.
For stealth players who are tired of bodies being spotted through walls. If you rely on silent takedowns and careful positioning, this mod makes that playstyle viable. Skip if you don't care about stealth or want broader gameplay changes.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Make sure you have Codeware installed and updated before adding Silent Bodies.
- After installing, check the config file to adjust detection ranges to your liking.
- Test in a busy area with guards to see the line-of-sight change in action.
