📋 About This Mod

Why this mod?

In vanilla Cyberpunk 2077, NPCs barely react to an armed player. Brandishing a weapon left and right in front of a gang? No reaction at all. Aiming at the NCPD? Keep aiming for a decade and they’ll politely ask you to calm down. That’s bullshit in America—and totally bullshit in Night City.

What does this mod do?

[]Weapon-drawn tension — sense-active NPCs (gangs, guards, cops) build detection tension the moment your weapon is out, escalating faster when you point or aim.[/]

[]Ranged vs. melee awareness — separate visible/dangerous ranges for guns (20m/10m) vs. melee weapons (10m/5m).[/]

[]Melee block exemption — holding aim with a non-throwable melee weapon is recognized as blocking/parrying, not a hostile threat.[/]

[]Crowd panic reactions — background civilians react too: mild uneasy walk-away at range, full panic/flee up close, spreading to nearby bystanders automatically.[/]

[]Real aiming escalation — actually aiming (ADS) triggers vanilla's full "surrender/beg" reaction on your exact target.[/]

[]Crosshair fallback — even pointing at open ground near a crowd finds and reacts the nearest civilian to your aim.[/]

[]Facing-angle check — only NPCs who could plausibly see the weapon (within a configurable cone) react, avoiding "reacts from behind" immersion breaks.[/]

[]Combat grace period — armed NPCs warn you first and only attack if you don't holster in time.[/]

[]Varied tolerance per NPC — faction and rank set how long a weapon is tolerated; Scavengers, Wraiths, Barghest, MaxTac and high ranks give you far less time to holster than the Mox, Aldecaldos or low-rank grunts (suggested by B).[/]

[]Instant combat chance — at max tension an NPC rolls against their menace: dangerous, high-rank types may open fire on the spot instead of warning you (suggested by B).[/]

[]Quest NPCs protected — hostages and characters in quests, gigs and NCPD hustles keep their scripted behaviour and ignore your weapon entirely.[/]

[]Only authority reprimands — NCPD, gangs and guards tell you to holster; ordinary civilians no longer reprimand or track you, they just get scared.[/]

[]NCPD/gang holster requests — police and gang members can ask you to holster instead of instantly escalating.[/]

[]Safe-zone, scenes and combat-state exceptions — no reactions in Safe zones or while you're already in combat (configurable).[/]

[*]Fully tunable[/b

🤖 AI-enhanced — based on mod data

Respect Your Weapon 2.0 is a gameplay mod for Cyberpunk 2077 that makes NPCs react dynamically to your drawn weapon. Drawing causes tension, pointing triggers panic or flight, and aiming leads to begging, escalating to combat if you don't holster. It adds immersive consequences to weapon handling.

✨ Key Features

NPCs grow tense when you draw your weapon.
Pointing your weapon makes civilians panic or flee.
Aiming at NPCs makes them beg for their life.
Combat escalates if you don't holster your weapon in time.

📊 Pros & Cons

✅ Pros

  • Adds a layer of immersion that makes you think twice before pulling iron.
  • Simple concept, well-executed – 108 endorsements from a niche crowd.
  • Tension system creates emergent gameplay moments, especially in crowded areas.

⚠️ Cons

  • Last updated August 2026 – might not be compatible with future patches.
  • Only affects NPC reactions; no other gameplay changes, so it's a one-trick pony.
🎯 Is This For You?
For Cyberpunk 2077 players who want more reactive NPCs and a reason to keep your weapon holstered. If you're into roleplaying a street samurai who respects the blade, this is for you. Skip if you're looking for combat overhauls or new mechanics – this is purely about NPC behavior.
📦 Install:Easy· Under 1 minute

💡 Beginner Tips

  • Test in a busy area like the market to see the full range of reactions.
  • Remember to holster quickly to avoid unnecessary combat – it's easy to get overwhelmed.
  • Pair with a stealth build to make the most of the intimidation factor.
