📋 About This Mod
NC Living Costs, Loans & Taxes
A personal note: this mod was made for my own enjoyment. I love build these kind of mods for my current RP and usually never share them here, but now I'm sharing them for anyone else who enjoys that kind of gameplay.
Night City runs on eddies, but the base game throws eddies at you like there's no tomorrow, making it hard to play a struggling merc. Money pours in. Nothing pours out. This mod adds the other half of an economy, the part where the city takes its cut.
Income tax on every job and gig payout
-
[]Fixer cuts on payouts ≥ 500 €$ (Wakako, Dakota, Padre and friends finally take a real percentage).[/]
[]Sales tax on every vendor purchase, shown inline in tooltips so you see the bite before you click Buy.[/]
[]A credit card from the First Bank of Night City: Spend over your wallet at vendors and the difference becomes debt. 5% daily compound interest. Pay it off via your phone, or watch it spiral.[/]
[]A loan shark (Blake Croyle): who'll front you 5k–30k eddies depending on your Street Cred. 15% daily compound interest. Don't miss payments!![/]
[]Utility bills from NC Amenities Corp: water, net, heating, electricity. Basic or Premium subscription. Three days grace if you're late, then your apartment's services get suspended. Using the shower, toilet and TV will now cost you dearly.[/]
Everything is configurable in Mod Settings. Don't want sales tax? Slider to 0. Don't want a loan shark? Toggle the contact off. The mod is built so you can dial it from "barely there" to "you literally cannot afford to live in this city."
The debt spiral
If you ignore the loan shark long enough, the Animals will find you. Pay before that happens!
The ambush respects cutscenes, vehicles, indoor scenes, lore set-pieces, and "carrying a body" states.
Why I made this
The economy in CP2077 is balanced for the early game. By Act 2 you're swimming in eddies and there's nothing to spend them on except cosmetic vehicles. This mod gives the city back its teeth, without breaking the early game (taxes are %-based, the loan shark is opt-in, utilities are turn-on-when-ready), and without forcing you into systems you don't want.
It's also designed to coexist with the other big economy mods, not fight them. Sales tax appears as a separate line item on top of the vendor's prices. Income tax wraps the existing payout pipeline. Apartment utilities don't touch the rent system of Mods like Eviction Notice.
