📋 About This Mod
Much Better Netrunning
Ground-up rebuild of Better Netrunning by finley243. The original had the right idea (quickhacks shouldn't be free) but was built on unfinished CDPR framework code that left many features broken. MBN keeps that philosophy and rebuilds the systems underneath.
Quickhacks are locked by default. Breach an access point, and only the daemons you upload during the minigame unlock their corresponding subnet on that network.
Additionally, all new features: a Cold War system where enemy netrunners fight back, Boss ICE with rotating protocols, skill-based quickhack range, and optional progression gates.
⬡ Features ⬡
Core Breach System
Quickhacks are gated behind a network breach. Each network has three subnets. The daemons you upload during the minigame unlock the matching subnet. Find any breach point below and interact with it to start the minigame.
Network Subnets
-
[]Root Network — Basic devices: screens, radios, doors, interactables.[/]
[]Personnel — NPCs and mechanical targets (robots, drones, mechs).[/]
[]Surveillance — Camera feeds and turret monitoring.[/]
Breach Points
-
[]Access Points — Wall panels, antennas, server racks. All subnets.[/]
[]Backdoors — Vending machines, forklifts, computers, other hackable objects. Root + Surveillance.[/]
[]Unconscious Enemies — Knock someone out and breach them directly. Root + Personnel. Don't kill them — their cyberware disconnects from the network on death.[/]
[]Unconscious Netrunners — Deeper network access. All subnets.[/]
[]Grapple Breach — With the Shadow Runner perk, breach enemies mid-grapple without knocking them out first. Same daemon availability as unconscious breach.[/]

✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Community-approved with 289 endorsements and 20k downloads
- Rebuilt from scratch means a fresh take on netrunning, not a patch job
- Fully configurable so you can dial the danger and reward to your taste
⚠️ Cons
- Successor mods can sometimes break saves or require a fresh playthrough—check the mod page for notes
- Configurability means you'll need to spend time tweaking settings to get the experience you want
For Cyberpunk 2077 players who find the base netrunning too easy or shallow and want a more tactical, high-stakes experience. If you're a stealth hacker who loves planning and risk-reward, this is for you. Skip if you prefer the vanilla netrunning or don't want to fiddle with config options.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Since it's fully configurable, start with the default settings and adjust after a few runs to see what feels right.
- If you're using other netrunning mods, check for compatibility patches or load order notes on the mod page.
- Make sure you have the latest game patch installed, as mods like this often rely on current game files.
