📋 About This Mod
MUCH BETTER AI
Complete AI overhaul
▍ OVERVIEW
Much Better AI changes how enemies fight, search, communicate, shoot, reposition, use netrunners, and react when a battle turns against them.
Enemies are governed by their combat role, weapon, rank, temperament, squad, and faction doctrine. A Scav does not fight like an Arasaka soldier. A weak enemy does not acquire and track the player like an elite. A suppressor does not use the same firing pattern as a flanker.
The mod does not raise enemy health, damage, armor, or spawn counts, and it does not replace enemy archetypes. It coordinates existing enemies and uses vanilla actions and abilities wherever possible. It changes behavior.
▍ COMBAT
[]Opportunity-based shooting. Enemy fire responds to range, weapon type, cover, posture, player movement, lateral direction changes, dodges, slides, jumps, Optical Camo, shooter movement, stability, stress, and time spent reacquiring the target.[/]
[]Weapon-specific fire rhythm. Snipers, shotgunners, heavy gunners, SMG users, and suppressors use different burst and pause patterns. Rank also changes reaction and firing discipline.[/]
[]Movement matters. Breaking line of sight, changing direction, moving laterally, and reaching cover reduce shot quality. Running predictably through the open does not.[/]
[]Weapon range matters. Enemies try to hold a useful range for their weapon. Shotgunners and melee units close distance; snipers and netrunners hang back; anchors hold firing positions.[/]
[]Bad shots cause movement. A ranged enemy with a persistently poor firing opportunity can seek a reachable angle that better suits its weapon. Only one member of a combat group repositions this way at a time.[/]
[]Footwork is more active. Enemies strafe and evade sustained aim, Kerenzikov users get sharper dodge strafes, pressing units sprint to close the final gap, and higher-ranked enemies abandon failing cover sooner.[/]
[]Incoming fire creates pressure. Sustained near misses can force an enemy to respond without prescribing a single retreat or dodge. Rank and faction discipline determine how readily they break, while vanilla chooses the actual reaction.[/]
