📋 About This Mod

Incoherent Rambling

You know, I've got nothing against cheap Swedish storage racks. You can put anything in them. Empty or full pickle jars, books, the heads of your enemies, you name it. I mean you should probably seek professional help if you have actual enemies and have enough of their heads to necessitate a dedicated storage rack, but that's a different matter. Where am I going with this you're asking? Well, I just wanted to establish that I'm not contra storage rack per se. I just don't see why you would ever put one on your car. Which brings us to the Mizutani Hozuki "Hoseki". I've had that thing in my sights for a while now and here we are.

What This Is

HOSEKI

For the Hoseki I was trying to improve the "rallye car in tarmac setup" vibe I got from it. Most obvious is the removed original wing thing abomination. Instead I made a full WRC style wing very similar to the one on the Hyundai i20 WRC. It was glorious, really. Then I looked at it, like really looked at it. Did you know WRC style rear wings are incredibly, violently ugly? Yeah, no way I was gonna put that on the Hoseki. A couple iterations later I ended up with a really simple design that hopefully doesn't give y'all eye herpes. Then I made new wheels for it, put an edited basegame front bumper on it, made a proper exhaust and gave it Nomad steering wheel, seats and some interior. I ran out of patience before I got the additional screen to work, so please just imagine a weasel ate the cables or something. Also two mirrors in the regular position, because, um, more lidar sensors in a better position is better? Oh, and I got rid of that silly air intake instead of the right-side headlight. Seriously, the way that was originally modeled would actually circumvent the air filter.

MH2

The edits on this one are more subtle, but with the different front bumper, wheels, paint job, tinted windows, removed wing, edited exhaust and whatever I'm forgetting I like it a lot better as well. I was aiming for regular compact car with extensive aftermarket tuning.

HANDLING/TUNING

I only made a couple subtle changes on the Hoseki, namely a bit more grip and more top speed, the latter about on par with the Porsche. Nothing crazy. Also the first two gears have much more torque now, so it accelerates from the line like a bat out of hell just like a rallye car.

I gave the MH2 the engine setup of the vanilla Hoseki. Handling-wise I only gave it more grip. The lowered suspension and increased camber are just visual, not functional.

IMPORTANT! I'm using Gripped Up (Vanilla Plus) and Dynamic Downforce (Version 2. 12), so all the handling changes are dialed in with those two installed.
