📋 About This Mod
USABLE IN NORMAL GAMEPLAY. I RECOMMEND USING THORAWAY SAVES FOR NOW.
PLEASE BE MINDFUL OF ITS BETA STATE.
PLEASE HELP WITH IDENTIFYING BUGS AND REFINING THE MOD.
COMPATIBILITY WITH OTHER MODS WILL ONLY BE DEALT WITH AFTER THIS IS POLISHED FOR VANILLA AND LEAVES BETA.
Another version of this, with minor changes, can be found here: Live The Montage.
What if the prologue were longer?
What if we can explore Night City without being haunted by the looming threat of V's demise?
Can you imagine? After the Lifepath intro, a game where you are a nobody.
Forget about making a name for yourself in Night City, you'll have to survive in it first.
Think of a begining closer to F:NV, while there is a main quest to follow, it does not have the sense of outmost urgency. That's what I'd like to see.
While I can't provide you with a seamless and immersive change to the whole story of the prologue, I can at least show you a glimpse of what could've been.
The mod is simple. It adds a gap at the end of the Lifepath intro. The gap will end when you reply to a message sent by Hobo of Ferelden in-game. (added by sonicvince. Only for 1. 1-beta onwards)
Adds Jackie as a follower you can summon via a message thread. Similar to FOLLOWER JACKSTER, but specific only for the prologue.
Try it for shits and giggles. >﹏<
Prolonged Prologue has 2 flavors:
Full / Modular:
Similar to Live The Montage, this version relies on Modular Prologue and all of its requirements. This means that it greatly benefits from Modular Prologue's features, like the option to toggle the custom prologue ON/OFF. Will also take advatage of Modular Intro's more fine-tuned start, which allows skipping the lifepath missions.Standalone Lite:
Relies only on ArchiveXL and is based on the original concept of this mod. Cannot be toggled ON/OFF in-game. Light on requirements, but less configurable.ONLY USE ONE VERSION AT A TIME!!!
Q: Is this compatible with New Game Plus - Native?
A: While this works with New Game Plus - Native, further testing is required to determine if the GIGS and NCPD components will not reactivate in Act 2.
This Cyberpunk 2077 gameplay mod turns V into a level 1 thug after the Lifepath intros and delays the main story start, offering a fresh challenge for players who want to explore Night City before diving into the main quest. With 62 endorsements and 5,726 downloads, it's a niche but active mod, last updated in May 2026.
✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Perfect for players who want to role-play as a low-level nobody before the big plot kicks in
- Adds replay value by forcing you to build up V from scratch
- Active development (last updated May 2026) with a decent download count (5,726)
⚠️ Cons
- Low endorsement count (62) suggests it's not widely tested or community-vetted
- May conflict with other mods that alter the main story or V's starting level
For Cyberpunk 2077 players who want to extend the early game and experience Night City as a weak nobody before the main story takes over. Skip if you prefer a streamlined narrative or don't want to grind levels.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Make sure to install after the Lifepath intros to see the effect
- Consider pairing with a level scaling mod to keep enemies challenging
