Every backpack in Night City turns into the same chore: pull up the tooltip, squint at DPS, tab to the next weapon, squint again, try to remember what the last one said. Multiply that by every slot, every vendor visit, every loot drop, for eighty hours.

So the game does the squinting now.

🤖 What it does

A gold TOP tag marks the best item of every category, right inside the backpack, inventory, vendor and stash screens - no extra window, and TOP items float to the top of the grid whichever sorting you use. One key equips the whole best loadout.

🏆 Ranking

• []Weapons rank by effective DPS (damage, fire rate and crit already folded in), weighted by tier, Iconic status and +/++ upgrades.[/]

  []Everything else - clothing, cyberware, grenades, healing, quickhacks - ranks by tier, Iconic status and upgrades, with the main stat as tie-breaker.[/]

  []Green (+) tag on anything that beats what you already have equipped in that slot, so upgrades jump out mid-loot.[/]

  ⌨ Keys

  • []B in the backpack or inventory screen equips the 3 best weapons of different types, the best clothing piece per slot, plus the best grenade and healing item - cyberware and quickhacks only get the tag, installing those stays your call.[/]

    []N at any vendor sells every weapon and clothing piece without the TOP tag, after a confirmation popup with item count and total price. Equipped, Iconic and quest items are never touched or sold.[/]

    []Controller: hold LB and press D-pad down for the same thing, in any of those screens. Both keys and the controller combo can be changed in the settings, and the game's own button bar shows which one is active.[/]

    Honest limit: the stash isn't ranked - the game only indexes what you're carrying, so TOP tags only apply to gear on your person.

    ⚙ Settings

    With Mod Settings installed you can change both keys and the controller combo, and toggle TOP items sorting first, the (+) tag, clothes in the bulk-sell and consumables in the best loadout. Without it, the mod runs on sane defaults.

    📦 Installation

    Install every requirement below first - without them the tags never show up. Then use Vortex / Mod Organizer 2, or extract the archive by hand into the game's root folder (the one with bin, archive and r6 inside):

    The files land at:

      Updating: delete the old BestInSlot folder before dropping the new one in.
