Control Profanity Filter

Silences the F-word, S-word, A-word and religious oaths in Control's English voice lines, and masks the same words in the English subtitles, UI and in-game documents. The story, the performances, and the gameplay are untouched. Only the flagged words change.

None. This is a small app plus its word list. It reads your own installed copy of Control and re-creates the edits there. Nothing from the game is included here, and you need a legally-owned, installed copy for it to do anything.

Required: the Loose Files Loader

Control will not read this filter's files on its own. Install the Loose Files Loader by reg2k first and place its file next to Control_DX11.exe. It is free, and we do not include it because it is not ours to distribute. If it is missing, this filter stops and tells you rather than pretending to work.

  What this mod does

  Audio - 435 English voice clips filtered across 1,227 individual moments. Clip length and timing are preserved exactly, so lip sync, subtitles and scene timing are unaffected. Only the word itself goes quiet; the rest of the line plays normally.

  Text - 975 words masked across 58 English text files, covering subtitles, UI strings and the in-game documents you collect. Masked as full asterisks with no first-letter hint.

  You choose how much it filters. Four groups you can tick or untick before it runs. Filter only the strongest language and leave the rest exactly as written, or take all four.

    Coverage

    English only. German, Spanish and French voice and subtitles are untouched.

    Speech in Control is not all in one place, and this covers the parts that are easy to miss: ordinary dialogue, the streamed audio logs, Hotline calls and Darling broadcasts, and speech stored inside the game's sound banks. 13 of the filtered clips live outside the main dialogue folder entirely.
