United States vs. China Date/Time: 28rd April 2024 / 02:00:00 Zulu Location: South Pacific Playable Sides: United States Introduction China as established a solid bastion around the South China sea. They have improved their facilities and defenses on their network of artificial islands, and have added the actual island of Thitu into their collection. The surprise attack on Guam had more of a psychological effect than any tactical or strategic impact. Base operations are quickly getting back to their normal temo. Clark continues to be struck at pretty regular intervals, which is resulting in slow operations. Japan and China have come to some sort of back channel arrangement, and Japan has declared itself neutral. No combat forces from any beligerant are allowed to operate from or over Japanese territory. Also, the civil unreset that has been taking place in Myanmar as reached a boiling point, and Myanmar has "offically" asked China for an intervention to stabilize the country. In effect, China has conquered Myanmar without firing a shot. The United States has taken no position on the situation in Myanmar (formerly Burma). Chinese ground forces have begun a rapid invasion South into Vietnam. There is little intel on the situation in Vietnam, but Hanoi is reported to be surrounded, while additional ground forces push their way down the coast. Vietnam is fighting vigorously, but the forward line of troops (FLOT), keeps sliding South. Meanwhile, a large amphibious group has left Zhanjiang Naval Base heading South. They may just be going to re-enforce the Spratley island bases, although some analysts suggest they intend to leapfrog the FLOT, or perhaps even invade Singapore. Scenario Notes The previous scenario was loosely based on the events of Dec 7 and 8th 1941, with Thitu subbing-in for Wake Island, and Guam subbing-in for Pearl.
