Workshops Work Better

Workshop incomes in this game have been adjusted downward to the point that owning one is hardly worth the initial investment. It can take two in game years just to break even. Income from workshops is so paltry that you can not even pay for the wages of a modest size army.

This mod will improve the income of workshops by injecting small amounts of gold into their coffers. The amount of gold is a combination of a fixed base with a random amount added onto it. This helps simulate the ups and downs that the workshops are supposed to have.

The additional gold is added onto any gold that the workshop would otherwise have made. This means that building a workshop in a good location is still very valuable. The gold from the mod is simply meant as a supplement.

There are three versions of the mod provided. The first version adds a small amount of gold every day. It makes workshops look as if they are earning a reasonable amount on their own. The second version of the mod doubles the size of the base amount added each day. The final version of the mod layers on even more gold and it probably completely unbalanced. I used the “Much Better” version myself and it makes workshops work the way I always hoped they would.

It takes between a week and ten days for the mod’s effects to be fully felt. I believe that the game’s workshop code uses some kind of rolling average to calculate workshop income.

Save Game Safe!

You can add and remove this mod at any time. It does not save any data to the save file. It can be added to an existing game. If you remove the mod workshop incomes will return to normal rather quickly.

Compatibility With Other Mods

This mod does not use harmony or change any game code. It adds an extension module to the game that runs silently in the background. It is unlikely to conflict with other mods or future updates to the game.
