📋 About This Mod

Sinkpoint's AI Dialogue

Sinkpoint's AI Dialogue gives every NPC in Bannerlord a voice. Named heroes, companions, merchants, tavernkeepers, and villagers can hold real conversations with you — shaped by who they are, where they are, and what's happening in the world around them.

By default, responses are generated live by a local model running on your PC through Ollama (no cloud accounts, no API keys). Optionally, you can configure cloud providers (Gemini, DeepSeek, Grok, OpenAI, etc.) if you want — that does require API keys and sends prompts to that provider.

Features

Conversation modes

Talk Freely opens a free-text chat with any named hero or companion. Ask about their past, their opinions on the war, their clan, their fears. There's no script.

Small Talk gives quick, flavourful exchanges with minor NPCs — merchants, tavernkeepers, villagers, children, arena masters — who respond based on their occupation and wherever they happen to be.

Hermit is a special ancient sage character who sits outside Calradian politics entirely. He'll discuss philosophy, history, or anything else you bring to him.

What NPCs actually know

The mod pulls live context from the game before every response. An NPC knows their own traits, skills, occupation, culture, and social station. They know their family — spouse, children, siblings. They know their relationships with you and other key figures. They know their active quests and whether they're currently leading a party, marching in an army, or a prisoner. They know where they're standing: the settlement's prosperity, the garrison strength, who else is nearby. And they know the state of the world — ongoing wars, kingdom laws, faction strengths, the in-game date.

Noble characters and kingdom leaders get more political detail. A village elder gets local rumour. A merchant knows trade goods and prices. The depth of what an NPC knows scales with who they are.

Persistent memory

Named heroes and companions remember your previous conversations. That history travels with your campaign save, so relationships develop across a playthrough. Minor NPCs like merchants and villagers have no memory — every exchange starts fresh, which fits them.

To keep saves safe (and avoid Bannerlord’s save string-size limits), long-term history is stored in a companion SQLite .db file next to your .sav. When you copy a save, copy the .db too.

Suggested questions

After each response, the NPC offers three follow-up questions you might ask. Press F1, F2, or F3 to send one, or ignore them and type whatever you want.

Relationship system

Conversations earn or lose relationship points with the NPC, from −3 to +3 per exchange. NPCs who like you are warmer; those who distrust you are guarded or cold.

In-game intents and actions

NPCs can propose (and sometimes trigger) real in-game actions when it makes sense — for example hiring a companion, starting a quest, joining a kingdom as mercenary/vassal, or resolving certain encounter outcomes.

Localised UI

The dialogue menu options, hint text, thinking messages, and starter prompts are translated into English, Français, Deutsch, Español (LA), Português (BR), Русский, Italiano, 日本語, 한국어, Polski, 简体中文, 繁體中文, and Türkçe.

The language model itself responds in whatever language you write in.

Requirements

  • []Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord e1. 2.x or later[/]

    []Bannerlord. Harmony (latest)[/]

    []Ollama installed and running[/]

    []Windows 10 or 11[/]

    []16 GB RAM[/]

[]A dedicated GPU with at least 8 GB VRAM is strongly recommended. A second GPU dedicated to inference — leaving your main GPU free for the game — gives the best experience. CPU inference works but responses will be slow.[/]

    Installation

Step 1 — Set up Ollama

Download and install Ollama from ollama.com. Once installed, open a terminal and pull the model the mod is built around:

    ollama pull qwen3. 5:9b

qwen3. 5:9b is what the prompts are tuned
