Features
-
[]Your scout's Scouting skill adds a speed bonus to party movement on the campaign map[/]
[]Bonus Scouting XP is gained while moving, scaled by terrain difficulty[/]
[]Everything is configurable via CTXP.config in the mod folder[/]
Configurations
Speed Bonus Factor
Controls how much each point of Scouting skill boosts movement speed.
The bonus is a percentage of base speed, similar to the Cavalry bonus.
speedFactor=0. 002
Example: At Scouting 200 with default factor, you get +40% movement speed.
Flat Speed Bonus
By default, the speed bonus is a percentage of base speed — smaller parties get a bigger absolute bonus.
Set to true for a flat bonus that stays the same regardless of army size.
useFlatSpeedBonus=false
Note: with flat mode, you may want a higher speedFactor (e.g. 0. 005) since the bonus is no longer multiplied by base speed.Party Filter
Choose which parties receive the scouting speed bonus. Combine multiple with ";" (OR logic).
appliesTo=1
-
[]1 - your Main Party[/]
[]2 - your Faction (all parties in your kingdom)[/]
[]3 - everyone (any party with a scout)[/]
[]4 - all Lord Parties[/]
[]5 - your Clan[/]
Examples: 1;5 = your party + your clan, 1;4;5 = your party + lords + your clan
Custom Scouting XP
Grants bonus Scouting XP every in-game hour while moving, based on terrain:
gainBonusXP=true
-
[]Water: 20 XP[/]
[]Mountain / Snow / Dune: 15 XP[/]
[]Steppe / Desert / Swamp / Forest: 10 XP[/]
[]Plain / Lake / River / Canyon: 5 XP[/]
Set to false to disable and only use the game's native XP gain.
Bonus XP Factor
Multiplies the bonus XP gained from difficult terrain. Has no effect if gainBonusXP is false.
bonusXpFactor=1. 0
-
[]1. 0 (Default) - full bonus XP (e.g. Forest: 5+5=10)[/]
[]0. 6 - 60% bonus XP (e.g. Forest: 5+3=8)[/]
[]0. 0 - no bonus XP (e.g. Forest: 5+0=5)[/]

✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Finally, that Scouting skill does something useful on the map—no more wasted points.
- Configurable bonus factor means you can tune it to your preferred pace, whether you want a small edge or a big boost.
- With 11 languages, it's a mod that respects its global audience.
⚠️ Cons
- The description is thin on exact numbers, so you'll have to test the default bonus to see if it feels right.
- Since it alters XP gain, it might unbalance progression if you're a min-maxer.
- Compatibility with other mods that change movement speed or XP systems is unverified—use with caution.
This is for players who hate slow map travel and want their Scouting investment to pay off. It's also great for role-players who want a reason to keep a scout in the party. If you're a completionist who likes to explore every corner, this mod makes the journey more rewarding.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Experiment with the configurable bonus factor to find a speed that doesn't trivialize map travel.
- Use party filters to limit the effect to your designated scout, keeping the rest of the party's progression natural.
- If you're playing with other mods that affect movement or XP, test early to ensure they don't conflict.
