📋 About This Mod
All three hideout maps have now been incorporated into the game.
This mod integrates the top 3 winning hideouts of the second scene design contest:
-
[]Valeria Lookout by Levente
[
]Battanian Burial Mound by Klassix[]Abandoned Mine by Athaelas
Compatibility
This mod is compatible with any custom map mods that relocate the bandit hideouts to other parts of the map. Special thanks to runmymouth for this change.
You can find the exact locations and ID's of the modified hideouts in ModuleData/custom_settlements.xml. For a rough estimate you can use this terrible, but still somehow usable, scatter plot/map I made:
X's indicate modified hideout locations, while dots indicate unmodified hideout locations. Color indicates bandit culture (Green: Forest, Gray: Mountain, Blue: Sea Raiders, Orange: Desert, Purple: Steppe)
Green X's: Battanian Burial Mound (found only in Battania)
Purple X's: Abandoned Mine (spread throughout the steppe)
Gray X's: Valeria Lookout (found in some mountain hideouts overlooking cities)
Future Plans/Ideas
I might add more than just the top 3 scenes to the mod. Integrating the scenes requires me to use my judgement and pick reasonable locations for the scenes. Considering there are a limited amount of hideouts, and I don't plan on adding more locations to the game, I have to also make sure that each hideout scene gets a reasonable amount of playtime. Obviously not everyone is going to be happy with my choices which is why I think the following would be cool to implement in order of decreasing likelihood of realization:
-
[]Make a FOMOD installer allowing the user to pick which hideouts they want integrated and maybe specify which hideout locations they want replaced with that hideout scene.
[]Implement a way for the game to randomly pick a scene from a list of "approved" scenes for that specific hideout location when the player enters the hideout. Pretty sure the game by itself has no way to do this, so this would require some heavy C# modding.
[]Would be cool to develop some sort of framework that can allow the user to provide their own scenes and specify which hideouts to replace in a way that is more accessible to people who don't understand xml files or how to make a mod.
