Installation:

Put our mods in modules folder just as any other mod, run DLL activator or enable .dll files in our mod manually, note that many users don't need to do this, but if the game crashes during initial loading this is likely culprit. We recommend manually installing the mods, there seem to be problems such as crashes for some people when using vortex.

Partner Mods:

- Anno Domini 1259 (download the AD1259 version of IMF) (must load IMF after AD1259)

This mod is set in Europe in 1259. Has minor factions with hideouts/camps such as the: Order of Lazarus, Templars, Ghilman, Almogavar, Genoese Mercenaries, Cathars, Hashishin, Knights Hospitaller, Order of Santiago, Sami tribes, and Cumans.

Realm Divided (Download the Realm Divided version of IMF) (Must load IMF after Realm Divided)

This mod overhauls Calradia and adds many new minor factions. Conceptually similar to Calradia Expanded. Author made a compatible version of IMF for it.

🤖 AI-enhanced — based on mod data

Improved Minor Factions overhauls minor faction hideouts and adds nomad camps, letting players and lords recruit troops, raid hideouts, and complete new quests. It's a substantial gameplay expansion for Bannerlord players who want deeper faction interactions. With 434 endorsements and 47,293 downloads, it's a proven mod for enriching the mid-game.

✨ Key Features

Adds active hideouts for every minor faction, with notables offering quests and militia parties defending them.
Allows players, minor faction lords, and kingdom lords to recruit troops from hideouts when relation is above 15.
Introduces nomad camps that move locations over time and feature village-style raid battles with more defenders.
Includes four new quest types: MF Lord Needs Recruits, MF Notable Needs Recruits, MF Notable Needs Troops Trained, and clearing a hideout.
Hideouts generate income for the faction, but lose money if raided, and nearby towns lose prosperity if the culture matches the outlaw hideout.
Custom minor factions automatically get hideouts assigned, even in existing saves.
Future plans include unique quests for every minor faction type, though not yet implemented.

📊 Pros & Cons

✅ Pros

  • Community-approved with 434 endorsements and over 47k downloads—clearly fills a niche.
  • Adds real depth to minor factions, making them feel alive with hideouts, quests, and recruitment.
  • Nomad camps are a fresh twist, with moving locations and tougher battles that shake up the map.
  • Works with existing saves, so you can drop it in without restarting your campaign.

⚠️ Cons

  • Installation requires manual DLL activation or a separate activator tool—not a simple drag-and-drop.
  • No explicit compatibility notes for other mods, so you might hit conflicts with overhaul mods.
  • Future plans for unique faction quests are just plans—current quests are generic and may feel repetitive.
🎯 Is This For You?
For Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord players who want minor factions to matter beyond just being targets. If you're tired of hideouts being static and want recruitment, quests, and dynamic camps, this is for you. Skip it if you prefer vanilla simplicity or don't want to fiddle with DLL activation.
📦 Install:Medium· 5-10 minutes

💡 Beginner Tips

  • Make sure to run the DLL activator or manually enable the .dll files in the mod folder, or the mod won't load.
  • If you're using other mods that alter hideouts or minor factions, test on a save before committing to a long campaign.
  • Check your relation with a minor faction before visiting their hideout—you need over 15 to recruit troops.
