2 issues with the game's HDR have been fixed:

• []HDR presentation being washed out, likely due to using a higher pre color grading exposure and not carrying over the sRGB 2. 2 gamma mismatch over to HDR (read more about gamma mismatch here). This has been replaced with RenoDX's own implementation of ACES tonemapper and an adjusted exposure level[/]

  []UI being washed out and overly bright compared to SDR, this was due to the developers using the sRGB gamma formula instead of 2. 2 gamma formula to linearize the UI elements and setting UI paper white to be much brighter than game paper white. 2. 2 gamma is now used and the UI paper white is now controlled by the paper white slider meanwhile scene paper white is controlled by the RenoDX game brightness slider.   The end result is an image with greater contrast and color volume. I decided on setting the exposure level to look closer to SDR. This also means that the game by default is darker with this mod compared to vanilla, so you might want to raise the in game paper white setting.

    []HDR Exposure Compensation - In HDR, the game's paper white slider increases the exposure prior to color grading rather than increasing brightness after tonemapping, this is bad because it breaks the original color grading, this setting mostly undoes the exposure increase, allowing for the color grading to work properly in HDR[/]

    []HDR Contrast Compensation - In HDR, the game increases the contrast slider based on how much the user increases the paper white setting, this was likely an attempt at emulating the look of the 2. 2 EOTF in SDR[/]

    The in game paper white setting now controls UI brightness.

    Installation

    • []Install Reshade 6. 6. 2 or higher with addon support. No Reshade effects are required.[/]

      []Copy renodx-asscreedorigins-odyssey.addon64 into Assassin's Creed Odyssey installation folder (next to your ACOdyssey.exe/ACOdyssey_Plus.exe and the same folder you installed ReShade's dxgi.dll to)[/]

      About RenoDX

      RenoDX, short for "Renovation Engine for DirectX Games", is a toolset to mod games. Currently it can replace shaders, inject buffers, add overlays, and write user settings to disks. Because RenoDX uses ReShade's add-on system, compatibility is expected to be pretty wide.
