Firefight EXP Scenario: Reconnaissance in Force

Reconnaissance in Force (known as Combat Reconnaissance, CRP in the Soviet military) refers to a type of military reconnaissance where a dedicated unit is dispatched to conduct operations (generally offensive) to gather enemy intelligence and reconnaissance resources. Typically, both US and Soviet forces would use battalion-sized units to launch reconnaissance-in-force operations against the enemy. Among these, NATO guidance documents specifically emphasize that the size and number of reconnaissance-in-force elements can be expanded if necessary, and during the operation, the commander may assess the battlefield situation to decide whether to continue the attack or withdraw immediately. Mission is based on Expansion Pack of Chinese version. Map Used: Map A Game Length: 12 turns (If US forces lose 5 vehicle units, no further turns will be played) US Deployment: In Turn 1, move into the map from 2201 along Highway 1A. Soviet Deployment: Deploy before US forces, at any location south of Highway 12. Special Rules: Place all participating Soviet units into a black cloth bag, then draw 10 units for the game. At the end of the game, the US player must determine the actual number of non-dummy targets among the Soviet markers remaining on the battlefield. Victory Evaluation: If the US player correctly guesses the number of deployed Soviet units, the US player wins immediately. If the US player fails to guess the correct number of deployed Soviet units: The Soviet player gains 1 Victory Point for each point the US player's guess deviates from the actual number. The US player gains 1 Victory Point for each US vehicle unit that exits the map south of Highway 1A. The Soviet player gains 1 Victory Point for each US unit destroyed. The final victory is determined by comparing the total Victory Points of both sides.
